If your standing in front and looking into the engine bay there are small holes at the seam, 3 on the drivers side and 1 on the pass. side. These are on the '77 that's in the shop. First thought was a place to attach part of the harness, but the '72 has the same holes in the same spots with no harness near it. Any ideas?

A picture would help but my initial guess is for the tabs that hold up the insulation on the firewall.

The two on the drivers side areholes for attaching those push-through clips that support something, which in my 71 were for the hose that goes from the windshiled washer bottle to the windshield squirters in the hood. I don't recall seeing anything attached to the others holes. More recently I hace commans=deer=ered those holes to support the vacuum line from the booster to the intake. Very useful holes actually.

Oh, that seam…😁
On a 76 and 77 model the one on the passenger side should be directly above a small flange or ridge welded to the firewall? If so then it’s for retaining the factory plastic charcoal canister.
