almost there!

Thanks! That page from the shop manual helps. I am getting close to figuring it out. Looks like the ‘equalizer lever’ is there for sure.

Not sure though if these are the correct forward and rearward mounts though.

The forward mount has 1 hole in it- as it should, right, for the one cable from the pedal?

The rear mount looks like it had three holes on it…but on closer inspection, it looks like the three holes are on a piece of plate that was welded up to the original mount. If you look closely at the pic you can see how a new plate was welded up to support a junction for BC -AN fuel tank fittings that are no longer used.

So, if I understand what I need to make this work (if these brackets are right) I will need to do the following:

1. Get an equalizer
2. Get three of those clips
3. Get a new set of cables
4. Cut the plate off the rear mount and re-drill the holes

Does that sound right to you all?

Yep, custom mount. Never seen anyone do it, but likely they were compensating for a body lift and exhaust clearance and maybe even spring clearance. Hard to say, since the original one works pretty well even with all of those mods.
Now that I think of it though, I guess it depends on the suspension lift and using the stock length cables.
With a tall enough suspension lift the cables would be too short and hang up on the spring packs. Maybe this was the old-school way of helping a little before they knew you could buy new longer cables, or source longer ones from other Fords. The last being a little problematic these days, since not many of the old sixties and seventies trucks are in the junkyards and those cables are probably in pretty rough shape anyway.

Just do what seems to work. You know that the front cable from the pedal goes through that one hole in the bracket on the body (where the zip-tie is now) and clips there.
From there the cable itself goes to the cantilever/lever arm's outer hole.
Then the little z-bar adjuster fits it's little kinked end into the inner hole, with the threaded end facing the rear.
This adjuster slips into the center of the equalizer bar.
The two outer slots take the two ball-ends of the rear wheel-to-body cables.
From the rear wheels, the cables run up and clip into their holes in your custom lowered bracket. Which hole gets which is likely going to be determined by your testing.
Everything meets there at the equalizer bar.

Yes really strange the P0 #2 (not my friend) modified this mount. He did a 3.5" lift and used quality parts from Duff so I kind of figured he knew what he was doing. But...he was in Hawaii and the time and maybe he didn't want to ship parts? Or maybe the Hawaii shops have been relocating brackets for years...

Or...he had the whole deal apart and the shop realized the soft brake line was too short and the ebrake cables were to short, and without new ones in hand, this seemed easier, and perhaps less expensive, than shipping new ones from the mainland.

I never talk negatively in a forum but the one exception I will make is the 'Lava Lining'. It turns out that I had a 'hunch' when I saw a small spot lift. I pulled it all off, and found rust underneath. I could even see holes where the Lava Lining was applied over that. I just can't believe someone would take someones money and make it look good...only concealing rust underneath.

Glass half full..I found it...and am correcting it...now. Would have been ashame to go all the way, and carpet over the lava lining, to not know what was lurking underneath.

My friend (PO#1) gets a pass for letting it get rained in occasionally. He was young, living his life, and didn't know better. He never claimed to be an authority on cars or trucks. He enjoyed this more than most, and I am looking forward to letting him drive it when it is all back together.
