What makes a Truck Avenger worth the $

I am new to the Bronco and the brand new Holley TA that came mounted to it. I went step by step per the Holley instructions and learned for the first time in my life how to adjust the floats. it was flooding badly ! I fixed the manifold leaks and I think it is timed good. I am having trouble with the first instance when I step on the throttle, it stalls out just a bit . Is this what you guys are calling "bump stall" ? What am I missing to get rid of this lag/stall ? It is a 470.

What I call bump stall is when you are at low rpm and kiss a curb or speed bump a little hard which can cause a little splash of fuel to hit the intake that the low rpm of the engine cannot tolerate. If the rpm is up it usually doesn't happen.
Regarding the lag at acceleration. It could be too low of a float setting starving the engine, but is more likely you air/fuel mixture screws. If you go on line you will see that Holley has good tech support. Essentially you want to get the engine warmed up and timed correctly with no vacuum leaks then adjust the air mixture screws on each side of the carb going back and forth until you have achieved the highest/best idle. Technically you should use a vacuum gauge but I just used the high idle process. After you have achieved this high idle/vacuum turn your idle back down with the throttle screw.

Riverick, I just insalled new truck avenger and was having that problem. installed a larger squirter and it made all the difference. good luck and watch those videos by Holly tv. very helpful

Thanks guys. I tried going without the vaccum gauge while adjusting the mixture screws but on my test drive it flooded out again. I am thinking I need to use that gauge. Thank you again ! Larger squirter ? Jets ?

The Holley truck avenger is probably the easiest carb to adjust. Mine did get all gummed up from storing my Bronco for three years. After a good clean it works like new.
