What throttle cable to buy for 4 barrel

I didn't realize how messed up my throttle with a stock bell until I started looking at other rides on here. As you can see, the PO did some engineering. I know its missing some parts but I think I want to go with a simple throttle cable setup. I have read Lokar has some good ones but also Summit. My question is, what is the simplest and what all do I need to have to brace on manifold. I do have a 3 inch body lift, 1995 351W and Edelbrock intake if that matters. I want to be able to use my original gas pedal.

I'm trying to understand why the geometry of the linkage is so "extended" in this case. I am running a stock bellcrank linkage with a four barrel and the length of the connecting arm is not near so long. What carb are you running?

Standard Edelbrock/Carter carburetor. It’s the 3 inch body lift that’s making the biggest difference.

Even with the taller engine, it’s not enough to make up for the body lift. You’d have to extend the arm on the firewall down or make a “kinked” arm to the carburetor to level it out just to make it look better.
Not sure which change, if anything, doing the kink would make, but changing the length of the lever arm on either the carburetor or the firewall would change the ratio one way or the other.

Believe it or not, throttle response is good. But want to go with a cable. Which one?? And who to get it from?

I used an accelerator cable from a 170 6 cylinder, and modified a bracket to mount it to the intake manifold.

I used the universal throttle cable from either Jegs or Summit. It was fairly easy to adapt it to the original pedal assembly. I made a plate to bolt to the carb studs for the other end of the cable.

Where did you get the bracket for intake to hold the cable in place?

I’ve been running this one from BC Broncos for many years. Includes an intake mount, the cable is trimmed to fit and I’d imagine it’s got more than enough length to cover your 3” body lift. If you don’t need an intake mount, a Lokar cable will do the trick as well I’m sure.

I looked on WH website but didn't see one for a 4 barrell. Did you have to get a bracket to bolt on to manifold to hold the cable?
Glad you got one coming. Thanks for looking into it with us, but I don't see it anymore either.
Usually with us, something that is missing from the website is either discontinued (not as likely in this case) or just on semi-permanent, near-death backorder status from the manufacturer!
Not sure if ours was from Lokar or another supplier, but we used them for years with good luck. Sorry to see them missing even if it's just for a short term.
After all, when you need one, you usually need it now!

But yes, it has a mounting bracket and everything you'd need. Including a long cable suitable for trimming down to size.

Good luck with the new install. Let us know how it goes.
