Do you have to take the whole damn drum assembly apart to remove a wheel cylinder from rear drums? I cannot get the thing out. I have unbolted the 2 rear bolts and the brake line and it seems the brake springs are in the way. Any help??

Yes. And if the wheel cylinder has been leaking you will need to replace or clean the shoes. If the linings are good you should be able to clean them, along with the rest of the assembly.
