School me again on the backspacing that a Wheel needs to clear a 77 Disc Brake set up? Im going that route and trying out my options.

For a 15" wheel, it's generally considered to be 3.5" backspacing or less. Anything more and it depends on the profile of the rim edge itself as to whether you'll need spacers or not.

Each increment you go up in wheel diameter gives you a little more leeway. For instance some 16" wheels don't seem to have an issue even with 4" of backspacing, while many others do. And 17" wheels don't seem to have the problem at all. Or at least not that I've seen here so far.

Even with 15's and 16's though, a lot of your hit-or-miss luck depends on the profile of the edge. What that means is that some aluminum wheels are cast thicker than others in that critical area, and even some steel wheels have been formed with shapes that don't allow quite as much leeway for tie-rod end clearance.

Hope that helps. I'm sure a lot of people have dealt with it directly so you should get quite a few more tidbits of info that should be even more accurate than my generic stats.

Thanks. I have a set of newer model f150 rims in 16 inch. That in no way fit. I figured that would be a no brainer, lol. Ill sell those rims and get something else or use stockers.

That's too bad too. The older aluminum factory truck wheels look great on Early Broncos.
Do you think it'd be worth using a spacer on the front? A good quality one costs a lot more than a cheap and simple aluminum disc, but can get the wheel out of harm's way without as much trouble as hunting down new wheels.
And most here say they don't notice the difference (visually) even when they're only used on one axle.

It might show up a little more with skinnier rims and tires, but still could be an option.
How much more clearance do you need?

I'd have to say Dodge myself, but not sure if I've ever seen their like on a Ford or not. But almost certain I've seen them on many Dodges.

77 with FSB aluminum wheels, 32x11.50 BFG A/T with 1/5" spacers at all 4. You can get away with a 1" spacer, and the center cap will be nearly flush with the end of the lockout on the front, but you will need to cut down the wheel studs 1/2" for the spacer to sit flush. Also, it is hard to find a 1" spacer.
