Trying to buy a flywheel for my 74 302, running NP435 tranny. Not sure if I need 157 tooth or 164 tooth.. Not sure how to tell. I know its 28oz externally balanced like all early 302's.. Like to get a heavy duty one, this bronco is going to be a Wheeler/ trail truck.. I guess it's just the starter that needs to match up.. Any clutch advise would be great too. Thanks

164 tooth.
The smaller one is for light car transmissions.

Usually the biggest clutch that fits, 11 inch.

Luk or better for quality.
Beware of Chinese garbage sold at the auto parts stores.
The box may have been made in the US, but the contents need checked before you buy.

Centerforce is a nice clutch with an easy pedal.

Yep, 164 tooth for the NP435.
I just replaced my OEm style clutch & flywheel with Centerforce's. I'm putting some serious torque to the wheels soon and the stocker type won't hold up.

If you are putting stock 302 type torque to the wheels you can have my fresh OEM style clutch & flywheel (both excellent condition, less than 2k miles) if you are local. Shipping would be a killer if I had to mail it though.

If you are buying new, go with the company that has free shipping. It's a heavy sum bitch. Summit etc..

Put your location in your profile to help other members see if you are local.
A lot of us end up with extra parts.
