I bought a ‘95 351w out of a e150 van. I tried to install today into my 68. I figured I mine as well swap motor mounts while I’m at it. I bought what I found to be done Chinese mounts for 68 302. They’re not fitting. The holes won’t line up and it seems like the bend is off. Should I be using 68 302 mounts or 95 e150 mounts? They look different from local parts house. Thoughts?

Use the mounts that match the chassis. The engine side is the same on the 351 as any other small block.
Some may take a little modifying, there was a minor change to the side of some blocks that makes a little bump that may interfere with some mounts. If you have just the wrong mount and the wrong block. Just need to clearance it.

Ok. I tried the new Chinese one(O’reilly) then I tried the old oem. The old one was close and maybe I could get it to work but the new one does not seem compatible. Autozone says moog(USA) makes theirs...but from the pic it looks the same. I ordered to compare. I’m probably not doing something right. Will attack again tues..thanks!

Dropped in a 96 351W from a E350 and it went in with no issues using stock 74 302 mounts. Think they were Anchor brand.....

Last thread hijack.......so I have feelers out for 1996-2001 explorers. The 1994-1996 E series vans are good for swaps too?

The Explorer has a lot of good going for it. Front accessory drive, the transmission, great intake. Best choice for a 302.

But a 351 adds cubic inches.

It really depends on what you want out of the engine swap?

I swapped it all from the 96 van. Motor (used a lightning lower explorer upper) front dress(had to use an electric fan) and used the wiring harness (made modifications) for EFI. Van oil pan works.

Same cam as the explorer and it ran well.

Explorer has better heads....I swapped on a pair of GT40p

I love my 98 explorer 302 with ford fuel inj. I’ve driven it over 25,000miles in the past 3 years and have no regrets with that setup(nv4500 mated to it). This new project just kind of happened But am excited to try a 351 in there. Like bowsher said, depends what you’re lookin for.

You will never regret the low rpm torque of a 351W.
Folks like to read about horsepower but when you are in the vehicle its typically torque that is the most fun sensation of power.
Low rpm torque is fun.
Just sayin' lol.

Ok, quick update: I picked up duralast mounts from auto zone and could immediately tell the holes were better aligned. After fiddling with them for just 20 mins, they’re mounted and engine is in! My 13yr old blames the poor quality of the oreillys on the coronavirus. I’m just hoping it was one bad batch. Either way, moving forward.
