Which Odyssey Battery do I need?

Read multiple threads on batteries and came to the conclusion that Odyssey seems to be the best (or one of the best) out there right now. I don't know which one I need to get. I checked the Sears website and there seem to be more than a few choices. I read on here that some have gone with the PC1500. There also seem to be several versions of that one as well? I'm oblivious when it comes to batteries. My rig will have a few auxiliary lights and a winch, not much else. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks.

The Odyssey is outstanding but will hit the wallet hard.
I'm running dual Optimas for about what it would cost to run one Odyssey PC 1500.
Dual batteries are a nice fail safe for obvious reasons.
But there is no doubt that the Odyssey is probably the best battery money can buy at this time.
Again expensive but you get what you pay for.

That is supposed to be the same battery just rebranded for Sears, right? And save about $50 over the Odyssey.

Same battery, just a different color case and stickers. So long as Sears doesn't go out of business, all should be good. ;D

I tried looking at the Deka but can't find anyone out West that sells it? Who are you finding it through? Thanks for the link to Northstar. Going to look into that a little more as well.

You should look for vendors that may sell them on pirate4x4. Worth a shot.

If you have Hensley Battery where you are they sell Deka batteries. They have several Colorado locations but I don't know if they are all over the west or not. I run the Sears Die Hard Platinum in two out of three of my Broncos and number 3 will get one when the time comes. If your in a position to wait for a sale, the price will drop down to the 180-190 range.

Deka made by East Penn. For your rig get an Intimidator which is the name used for trucks & cars. Same company, better product.
Intimidator compares with Diehard Platinum. The Pirate comparison is crap.

Huh? While the Intimidator is the most comparable AGM product that DEKA (East Penn Mfg) offers compared to the Hawker PC1500/Sears Die-Hard Platinum, I wouldn't say it's a necessarily the better product...it's a slightly lower cost, comparable product, but performance is correspondingly lower as well. Just look at the weights of the two...PC1500 = 49#, DEKA #9A78DT = 42.5#. That 6.5 pounds of lead difference is substantial and why you pay more for the Hawker. More lead generally means more power density, more amps, more life, more cost. While both are excellent batteries IMO, and I've spent more than my fair share of time in lead-acid battery plants compared to most, lets keep things factual.

Why is the Pirate test crap? I'm not saying it isn't, but what evidence to you have to back up your assertion?

The guy asked where is Deka and I told him
I said Intimidator compares with Die Hard Platinum.
And yes the Intimidator specs are short of the DHP. When they are close price rules.
I think you may have read one of my battery messages where I said if one wants lots of battery power make a list of AGMs by weight, compare the numbers then choose the most reasonable price. Bigger is always better. I use a size 65 in my rigs with winches.
BTW, sears says 34 weighs 59??
