Deadfish just pointed out that the V8 frames have a smaller front frame brace on the drivers side to allow for oil filter clearance. Can someone who has done the swap please comment on which oil filter they are using, and if they modified that brace?

Thanks again!

FL1A is a decent filter. Not sure on the clearance issue, you can always do the remote filter. The adapter is much shorter then run hoses and put the filter where you need to.

I'm staying away from a remote filters. I just want to figure out if someone has done the swap without modifying the drivers side frame brace, and which filter they are using.

I did some work for a bronco owner who had installed a remote filter himself. He had fried the engine and hired me to do the R&R. As it came to light the problem being (starvation) As I was cleaning the oil system to re-install..I found the problem!! The owner used a 1/4 "elbow on the corner! ! He thought he saved money by not running to H/D...instead he burned up a 5000to engine. The engine ate itself in 45the minutes... The divorce...didnt happen. He promised the wife....no more of his work on the familly toys. That 90* was priced at$12000 between all the engines and my labor...The kicker.....he could have left the filter where it was.....for free!!

No problem, just wanted to point it out. I have struggled with issues, asked a question on the forum and got it solved much easier. Pilot bearing comes to mind.

I ran the oil remote from a racing company on my Shelby Cobra for 10 years, done right there are usually no issues.

Ever listened to a guy try to tell a story, but he's laughing so hard that only some of the words come out?
