The last factory T-shift should be a '73 around VIN #Q80000. Who has the closest VINs with T and J shifters?

Q61373 t shift bought new.
might be hard to nail any VIN down to the last as things always slip by at the factory that last box of old parts gets found then used several VIN later. I wonder if any of the 72 Rangers got a J shift. Since it was a new model being debuted.

Were Bronco's made in more than one assembly line? That would possibly explain why JW's J shift is earlier than jn2630's T shift.

Start your own post on the 71's. Luckily my 71 has a D44. Really unless you bought the vehicle new or it was a one other owner vehicle that had all records on it. Then you can never be 100% on many of these things as you never know what was swapped in over the last 40+ years. Although I would say that t cases are probably one of the least swapped items. So it stands to reason they may be what came in the vehicle. Front axles well that can be tough to verify. I believe there were also some pre 72 factory replacment D44's that had king pins

71' with a D44 k67479 12/21/70 build. How did you discover the Trak-Lok from the factory?

Guess the threads been hijacked.:D 71 D44 k34101 sep 70 build.

front LS codes are usually on the VIN tag last letter in the axle code. before 73 either N or J usually denoted a front LS. from 73 the J was for power steering. Not sure if they still had a code for the front LS after that. I think I've heard of Q being a code as well but not positive on that.

I've noticed that '72 was one of those "late years" where Ford ran the model year '72 right up into October. So, depending on who was doing the paperwork at the time(?), and who's done it in recent years in what state, there may be some cross over.
There are at least a few here with registered '72's with automatic transmissions and power steering.
Hmm, I wonder if these very early automatics still got the J-shift, or if some of them have the T-shift?

Adarcy here has a Bronco originally sold as a '69, but when it got to Texas it was registered as a '70 for some reason.
