I use mine to pull fence posts all the time. Does that count? Works great by the way...:)

The first time I used my Hi-lift, I just about took my chin off with the handle. Apparently It needed to be lubed. ;D With the jack and a tie-down or a piece of chain you can change most tires with any sized lift. I've used it several times out on the trail. Apologies to Tito for showing incriminating photo's, but it was my jack.;)

I too have one for every rig. Unfortunately, I have found many uses for the tool other than "looking pretty" mounted to the rig. After the first time out and needing to borrow one, I found out how invaluable they are and bought my own....x4.

I bought one, "like new", never used, off CL for $25, even came w/ a slick black cover. I plan to use it around the garage more than anything, but it would look cool to mount it perpendicular like a hood ornament (j/k)

<-prefer the term "street cruiser" to mall crawler :^)

Got mine in 87 after using handyman jacks on the job for years. The handyman was better except for the wood handle, but it always worked. The point about maintenance is very important! Used mine in home repair & on the trail very often, don't want to explain that!

I would say mine has been well used, trail repairs and got me unstuck when I didnt have a winch.

I have used the handle more than anything else as an extension for my breaker bar.
doesn't everyone get jack up in the jaw at least once when using one. ;D
I think they are a pain in the ass to carry, never a good place to store them.
I have been looking at the HF aluminum race jacks to carry around in the bronco.

I've used mine to jack my rig up when high centered on a road with deep ruts to either put logs/rocks under the tires or to shove the rig sideways. When you need one nothing else will do!!

I've had one for years and have used it for everything I even picked up the corner of my house and replaced the foundation and some blocks.

Back in "the day" when we got a "Quality Farm & Fleet" (do those still exist? All the ones near me were replaced by Tractor Supply's) they had them on sale for $20/ea during their grand opening sale, so I got one.

I've used it alot but not much recently since I haven't been wheeling much since high school. Used it once a week or so back then.

How about for stretching fence? I used mine for that a few times and also for pulling up fence posts.

Another word of advice... leave that cotter pin in the handle! Its tempting to take it out so you can pull the handle to smack the mechanism to change directions, but, my buddy's little bro (too small back then) was hanging from a Hi-Lift handle one time trying to get that next click and he slipped and the handle went airborn. Didn't hit any of use but yee haw!

Hardly ever use it, won't leave without it. Kinda like my winch.

I can think of a few situations:

Frame deep in mud, stalled my 8274. Hi-lift it up and pull forward, repeat, until out.

Frame broke on someone else's Heep, pulled ends together close enough to patch it together (remember you can pull and push with these)

Hi-centered, then not thanks to hi-lift

Trailer jack sank in ground, couldn't hitch it up as tongue was below ball. jacked up (large) trailer with rig on it and got it hitched up.

Couldn't get my bumper mounted as frame ends were a little tweaked. Pulled together with Hi-lift. Not a trail fix, but it sure worked good.

These were all over a long period of time, but when you need one you need one. The only thing I really DONT like them for is changing tires, unless you chain the frame to the axle. Given the flex and height we have today you really have to max it out to get a tire off the ground otherwise.

The down side is, they can kill you. If that handle comes up wrong look out. Also, at max lift you are usually wishing you had a better jacking point on the vehicle so it doesn't slip off.

Anyway, I like them.

That reminds me of use #4987 - bury it as a stake for your winch when you can't reach anything else

I bought one at a yard sale 15 years ago and have only used since I got my first bronco (3 years now). In fact I used it tonight to get the bronco on Jack stands to swap out leaf springs. I lube and work it thoroughly before I use it so I don't kill myself. Boy that sounded bad...

I have one.. Used it to raise the frame enough for me to put in some new springs.. Yeah.. I know.. STUPID, but I was 21 and it was all I had. This time aorund I used a cherry picker, but it was only holding the frame (frame off resto mod). ;D
Sorry no pic of the hilift.
