Bringing up a not-that-old subject again. Just as a heads-up in case you don't get our "new items" e-mail blast.
Our part #3463 Under Hood Storage "Z" Box. http://www.wildhorses4x4.com/product/Under_Hood_Storage_Box
The boxes are in stock at this time in fact

The images are not working for me this morning, but I don't know if it's a glitch with the site or just my computer.

Hope not too! I can't see the images in the links for the Bronco vendors at the top of this page either, so it's not just our site today for me at least.

At least it doesn't effect the inventory. ;D
Pics worked yesterday though, so not sure just what happened between then and now.

Hey Donk - How deep are these storage boxes?

With the ZF, my clutch rod interefered with the OE Vent box, which is why it is now removed.

Would love one of these, but worried I will run into the same problem if they're too deep.

Any plans to make them with choice of depths?

Well, I can't say for sure it would work since I can't picture what your issue is.
When you say "deep" are you referring to how far from top to bottom? Or from front to back?
Either way, I hadn't heard of anyone having the trouble you're having with the stock vent box and a clutch rod. Do you have a thread about it with pictures?

I'm "assuming" that it's roughly the same dimensions as the stock one, so might not work in your case. But I wonder what else you could do to make it work?
In the meantime, maybe give the shop a call at (209)943-0991 and see if someone can give you the measurements.

Good luck. Seems like you could make the linkage work with the box, rather than vice versa, but I imagine you've already figured that angle to death.

Shop says 11.5-12" deep. Might actually work.

By deep I mean top to bottom distance.

Sorry, no pics on me, I guess a thousand words will have to do...

My clutch rod is stands off about 2-4" to the left of the stock clutch petal (towards drivers side) . And now it goes through the firewall insead of through the floor.

I will measure and check. Its been a while, so I don't remember how much interference, but I had to remove the vent duct because it interfered with the clutch rod that is now running through the firewall for the ZF master cyl. Clutch master cyl is located at the lower corner of the power brake bracket.

Ahh, I see now what you're dealing with.
Hmm, why not take the new one and cut a notch in it's side wide and deep enough to fit the new rod, then simply "enclose" it with some circular plastic?
In other words, just glue a tube into the side of the box. This makes for clearance with the rod, but doesn't leave it open.

Just thinking out loud here. But if I'm picturing it correctly, just might work.
Probably only work if your intrusion into the box area is only a small amount. Like less than an inch or so. Anything over that and you're just interfering with it's carrying capacity.
But anything less than an inch should be easy to work with, and not take up so much space that it gets in the way of your contraband duct tape rolls. ;D

That was what I was thinking would have to be done...I'll take some measurements and see.

Thanks.

Whoops, I see this is already linked. As long as I'm here you can thank Todd Z that's the "Z" in the Z box. I was told he has the only blue one on the planet:cool: I'll get some updated pic going soon.
