Why two fuel pumps?

One thing I've ran into before is that if your electric pump fails, it does not allow gas to the mechanical pump. Just another thought.

I think if you have an electrical inline as a backup the pumps should each have bypass plumbing with valves so you can close off the one you're not using.

I never heard back from the PO so I assumed it was for redundancy. Regardless I removed it over the weekend. Took it out and just popped in an inline fuel filter in its place so I could use the same fuel hose. Runs great. Fired right up this morning after sitting all night. Problem solved. Thanks for the input.
