Just got my expensive box from Wild Horses.
Advertised as the 'Spanking new power steering box kit. http://www.wildhorses4x4.com/product/4Bolt_Quick_Ratio_Steering_System_Deluxe
Does anyone else have one of these? and do the holes in their boxes look like a 3 year drilled them with a Makita?
I am a machinist and would be embarrassed to have this leave my shop.
I can't get a close up of the pic from the WH website to see if the holes are supposed to be this crazy.

Of course I got it too late in the day and WH was closed. Probably closed tomorrow too, the 4th. This was supposed to go on tonight for wheelin on Saturday.

As a fellow machinist and now engineer, I do not like the lack of material in the last two holes. When working with any material, especially cast, I like to maintain the same rules as threaded holes. If there is a 3/8 inch hole, there better be 3/8 of material on all sides, and the stress risers in those holes are HUGE red flags.

While only looking on my cell. I think it was done....

Edit: followed link to BRAND NEW. Though it was a modify with hole on existing box.

Call them, they will make it right. Maybe Paul (Dirtdonk) will chime in and give you some advice.

Wow, how the hell did that slip thru! I have the same set up on the 74. It's a great set up.

WH is closed for Independence Day. I would have driven the 2 hours to WH's to swap this out today. The world wont stop rotating, but this is disappointing and kills my weekend .
Wild Horses has a good rep and this is the first problem I have ever had with their parts. I'm sure they will take care of it but they may have to make adjustments to their QC program.

Is it possible that it drop ships directly from Delphi?
In that scenario WH doesn't actually ever see the part.
They would just have to trust Delphi's QC.

NUT- You may have a point. The outer box containing all internal parts boxes says Wild Horses, all other boxes say WH, except the box that contains the Steering box itself. It is not marked. The UPS shipping origination is the WH address though. It easily could be WH has Delphi (or whomever makes the steering boxes) ship them the steering boxes which end up on WH shelves to make kits with them later.
I would rather be disappointed with the manufacturer and not WH.
Still ruins my weekend of having the Bronc in the parade/wheelin' on Saturday though.
I will be sure to share WH's resolution to the problem.

If mine will fit and you want to make the drive today, you can come get mine off my '76 and throw it on. I'll be around all day and have no plans to take the Bronco anywhere this weekend or early next week.

It is a stock box on a '76. We would have to pull it off, but if it worth the work and time for you I'd be more than willing to give you a hand.

I may be wrong but the new box has factory holes that won't work with all 3 of the existing Bronco holes. As a result, the box's holes have to be drilled to work with the Bronco original ones that don't align. Make sense???? It's a new box, but won't work in the Bronco as produced unless modified.

I could be wrong on the above. :(

If that's the case, and what I am seeing is "NEW", I don't want it. Shoddy alteration and just waiting to crack or brake in the middle of nowhere.
I spoke with WH before I ordered and they said it would bolt on in original location. They didn't mention anything about a "NEW" box that was altered.
I would rather have a rebuilt box with holes in the right places and a strong mounting base. With the holes hogged out like that, the unit could easily migrate under steering pressure.

Randy your a good man-
Thank you for your offer. It's a little late to get started on it today. You are about 2 1/2 hours away from me. If I am installing something I want to do it right the first time. Parts aren't perfect and mine just happened to fall through the QC cracks this time.
Happy 4th !

I look on the WH sit you gave and your box doesn't even look like the one in the picture. What a bummer, I would be a little upset if that came to me looking that way .I know WH will fix it for you, but I know it sucks ,when you expect it to be a good quality part .
