WARDOG, does it even look like it would bolt up to the factory frame holes? Doesn't look like any of the vendors boxes I looked at.

Wardog,
I don't even know how you made sense of my poor description earlier, but you did! I corrected my original post to be more clear.

I got my power steering kit thru Larry Jackson at Used and Abused via JBG. I seem to remember something similar, but not that extreme.

Let us know what comes of it,
Tyler

I bet Delphi ran out of the older style PS housings (as pictured on the WH site) and are now using the Pathfinder housings (as received and on the JBG site). That looks like a PS box abortion. No thanks.

Its not the same thing. this is a delphi box. the op picture is of a nissan box.
Look at the delphi box with 4 distinct round mounts. delphi has a skinnier housing around the sector shaft. delphi has an aluminum nose cone and end plate. delphi is smaller.
Nissan is going to have a casting number of 0770 or g00 on the box housing above the sector shaft.

Sorry, by "same thing", I meant the holes. Interesting they appear the same as what wardog originally posted. I honestly did not even look at the boxes. Along those lines....does the Delphi and Nissan boxes have the same pattern?

The casting # on this is D001

Perhaps I didn't understand that I was not getting a SAE box.
The mention of Nissan isn't what I was expecting.
I was replacing the box that was on it because it was a Toyota box (casting actually says TOYODA).
If I am swapping one import for another I may rethink all of this.

My god that's fugly no way would I bolt that on I'm sure wildhorses will make it right but how is the question. If all of their boxes come from the same supplier they may all look that way plus as stated your not going to get it done this weekend, so you have even more down time while you both try and figure out a solution. Wildhorses may need a new supplier or the supplier may want to start welding up the holes than redrilling them.

No worries. They have slightly different bolt patterns. Notice one of the nissans is almost a full hole re drilled and the Delphi is just oblonged. .

What's wrong with finding an original used setup? I see them for sale often, and not heard many complaints about them.

The original boxes were designed for 28" tires. I'm running 35" tires with lockers and my rig spends more time off-road than on.

My point is more along the lines of shoddy craftsmanship for an advertised "Spankin' NEW" box. I doubt WH has even seen one of these out of the box. But I'll bet they are going to be opening some boxes on the shelf to see what else has been coming from that manufacturer.

As far as welding goes, I wouldn't even attempt it. You would have to disassemble the whole thing so you can heat the entire body before welding. Critical in welding cast iron. Then you have to let it cool slowly over time. Otherwise you will get cracks. Then reassemble. Forget it. Also depending on the country of original for the cast bodies, they may not even be weldable (Pacific Rim cast just melts).

I am gone next week but hopefully I have time to call WH and get something else on the way so I can fix it when I get back Friday night.
I'll let everyone know in case they were interested in the same kit that I got.

I think you'll find that's the way it is supposed to be. They have simply adjusted for a different bolt pattern to fit the EB frame. Are the offset holes drilled straight? Is the milled boss square? If so, it looks ok to me.

May not be pretty, but should work fine.

For 1100 hard earned bucks I would expect something better than that.It doesn't look new to me,rather a pisspoor rebuild that is overpriced.

I bought one of those kits a few years back. Mine looked the same as your picture.

looking at the WH website pic, it does look like three of the four holes are ovalized. meaning, it will walk around as it is used and eventually fatigue the bolts and cause sloppy steering. Odd they think this is OK.

Not necessarily. The 4 bolts should hold it in place if washers are used and they're torqued properly AND the frame is in good condition.

Alot of folks are using this set up with good results.
I bet it will be fine. It is apparently a better/stronger box than stock.

Have AGR build you a box. They built mine to my specs. They build boxes for some of the Bronco houses already, and going direct you save a little. Only problem is he's busy so you won't get it immediately.

I have run a box built by AGR and one built by West Texas Off-road... Go with West Texas- quick turn around and no issues as of yet. AGR... Well, I had two boxes from them on different rigs and both had war rates and continued to have issues...
