• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

66 hub caps...

When you have to use the two fuel filters, new light bulbs, and topping off the oil in the transfer case as selling points, you're really stretching.

No clue on the $65,000 price. Fairly run of the mill basic uncut Bronco. Ten years ago this could have been purchased for $15,000 or less.

Yeah, I watched that too, and like you was amazed that $65k wasn't enough!

I forgot to watch that closely. I was tuned in at 45k and before that, but missed the final. It's been here to my shop for a visit once, but not to be worked on. Clean Bronco, and folks can ask what they want these days I guess. But I am surprised too....

I'm beginning to think that BAT has been infiltrated by the same cheaters and shill bidders that eBay has.

Look at the other Broncos to recently sell in the $35k range on BAT. This one is not that different.

I have a Bronco that is in real similar shape, that would be down the road for $65k.

I wanted to create a post on this too!! I was shocked watching the auction...

Not trying to bash it, buuutttt to say it only has 31K miles, chipped and cracked paint, bed-liner under the carpet, 66 hubcaps, sport trim on the top and sport door panels but not a sport model, speaker holes cut into the doors, new clove box liner, and other small details...

I was blown away that $65K was turned down for that Bronco!!!

Yeah, I was really, really surprised that BaT allowed such a high reserve on that truck. It should have gone down the road at that price - I was going to comment as such but figured I'd keep my mouth shut. The seller said it will go to Ebay or Hemmings now. I'll be curious if it pops up and at what price.

I think it is a great looking truck, think he should sell the hubcaps separately and
put the proper ones on it. I don’t see it selling for more than that, but hey, you never
know these days I guess...!

Yes, another local here has a '66 Halfcab that he's just restored, albeit not totally stock, but it sure could use those hubcaps (and 66 bumpers among other things). Attempts have been made but the seller really likes those caps on the 71 and wont part them from it. Like TZ said, I'll be waiting to see what happens on ebay or hemmings. If I hear anything thru the local vines of grape I'll post up too.

I watched this auction. Strange how the bidding was so aggressive early then nobody in the final minutes. So U think foul play? I’m thinking so. a month earlier a red one sold for $78. ??? that was crazy. Not sure what to make of it

I don't know, but I am skeptical of a lot of auction tactics, even live auctions. I have seen good deals come out of auctions, but there is always the outlier auction where something doesn't quite jive.

This one might be as simple as a high reserve and that there are actually willing buyers at $65k. In that case, I think the Seller should have taken it. On the other hand, was this just a "pumping up" of a truck to get a higher price later? In other words, there were no buyers over $35k, the reserve was way high, and the Seller had a friend bid up the truck so that they could say to another Buyer later "we had bids at $65k that we didn't take".

I guess the frustrating thing about these crazy auctions is that it drives the price on these trucks up. From an owners standpoint, great, my asset is worth more. From a "hobby" standpoint, the average guy is getting priced out. I'd rather hang out with average guys than people who buy these trucks as "investments" and don't know the difference between a spark plug and a drain plug. RANT OFF.

Yeah I don't get it either. I was watching this one really closely because I submitted this original paint '72 and they would only give me a $36,500 reserve. I guess that's a fair reserve but I'm not sure why that one would get an $80k reserve especially after looking close at the paint work. Don't get me wrong it's a nice truck but something seems weird about that auction.

When you want to sell your '72, let me know. That is a nice one.

A very nicely preserved vehicle, but not really the time capsule that would command that kind of price. Under coating and what looks like rhino lining inside the rear fenders are turn offs for me and not easily corrected. It definitely cannot hit "excellent", which would be a former concours or one that drives as new vehicle in its era. I would guess between good and excellent, but I am not expert.

I'll never comprehend the prices of Broncos now. With over 225,000 1st Gen built it isn't like they are rare. Frankly it's mind boggling people would pay these prices.
But, I'm old and with sense so ignore my observations.
