I have been checking out some of the parts off the parts bronco. the 9'' was a mess but when I opened up the 44 I got a little treat. It was a factory posi. At least i think I see clutches. I was expecting this. When I rolled the pinion down water ran out where the pinion seal was. just thought you guys would enjoy a good nasty picture.

My 'smart-ass' answer would be "Nothing a little Brake Cleaner couldn't fix", but I think I'll hold off before pulling the trigger on that one. Thats a mess!

The smell was the first clue. As soon as I cracked the lid ( Unziped the zipper) I knew I was in for a "special" treat.

No wonder it's full of water, someone installed it upside down!

I see the problem-you need a new gasket! Close it up and keep going. Better than buff out!

Another Katrina victim

I can only imagine what my diffs, and everything else will look like when I open them. After I drove from Anchorage to New Orleans to get it a few summers ago, I started pressure washing everything and my glovebox fell out into the floorboard. Basically was a block of silt from the Gulf that was as hard as concrete. My t-case had a ton of silt in it. Guess that is what getting rolled around in 3 22ft tidal surges will do.
Maybe some day I'll get started on it.
