Window/regulator issue

Last week my passenger side window stopped working. I found one of the inner channels was broken. The window was jammed but the regulator went down without the glass.

I fixed the channel. It goes up fine but now the regulator will not hold the bottom of the glass tight enough to bring it down. I assume the rubber strip has dried out. Do I need to replace the strip? Is there an adhesive that will hold it?

I can push it down fairly easy be hand.

i put power steering fluid on mine :) the rubber will soak up the oil and expand. you can get some fuel line if I remember and slit it and replace it. Check the tech article section.

Just had the same issue when I reassembled my doors with all new weatherstriping and wipers, when lowered the track pulled from the glass. Instead of using the window setting tape, I removed the channel with the glass in place, used a window sealant material that is used to glue windows in place and placed in the channel. Slipped the channel back on the window and regulator and rolled it all the way up and let cure overnight. Works great now and didnt have to mess around with that old fashioned rubber technique.

Note - be sure to clean out the old rubber from the channel and clean it with acetone prior to placing the sealant in the channel.
