Thank you all for the comments. Turns out the hinge is painted stainless steel, so it looks like it was replaced by the PO at some point. The gasket also looks newer. I am going to remove it and place a new gasket on the correct side of the hinge. Would it be alright to put RTV silicone sealant on the cowl mount side or would I be better off just leaving it metal to metal?
I might run a bead of clear and then spread it along the whole bottom. You don't want anywhere where water could get in and have a hard time getting out.

That makes a lot of sense. Looking much better now, but I still have to fiddle around with the gaps at the doors. They are just a hair too wide at the top, but not terrible. Ironically, without the gasket, the gaps are pretty spot on. I saw another thread on that topic so I’ll post my issue over there. Thanks all!

If you run any kind of silicone, I would make sure to have a way to set the door gaps while the silicone sets up. I know it remains somewhat flexible, but once it’s dried, it’s pretty well glued in there for the duration.
Keeping water out is the primary goal. But making sure everything still plays nice with each other is pretty much right up there at the top of the list as well.
