Windshield support to upper cowl fit

Need some advice, my EB has all the usual rust but was extremely bad in the windshield support and cowl area. I started there first and bought all new sheet metal for that area. The issue I have is the cowl flange to the windshield support has a decent gap and I was wondering from some that had done it before, would it be a good idea to tack the cowl lip to the windshield support before I tack the windshield support to the door post so I can get it as flush then pull the support down to the post and tack it in place? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure I completely follow you but my advise would probably be the same. As best you can, make sure it is right, right now. It is so hard to cut apart something that is finish welded, or worse yet, painted. A little extra time now is a lot easier than what it will take to refix it later
