Wont hold idle and dies

So bought a project from a guy local.
He rebuilt the carb and did something with points and timing.
Runs great with foot on gas but dies right away when you let foot off gas.
bronco won't hold idle
302 2 barrel 3 on tree.

Hi, check for vacuum leak. Are you working on it yourself? Go over the tune up, including point gap and ignition timing. The distributor vacuum should go to the ported vacuum source on the carb. Get a Chilton's manual. Good luck

Start by turning the idle screw in enough so it stays running without your foot on the gas.

Is the gas fresh? I had the exact same issue but added a bottle of Heet and it cleared right up. Sometimes it's the simple things.
