ToddZ sent me a PM back in early March about the link in a recent thread to the new Bronco book by Paul McLaughlin (to be released in May). The link showed a cover with what he thought appeared to be my Blue 76. I thought he was April foolin' me until I realized his message dated from early March. But I was off the grid for a couple of weeks in early March and so it wasn't until yesterday that I got back to sorting messages. But, sure enough, that is the wife's blue 76 on the cover! I recall Paul dropping by at the car show last May and taking a couple of casual photos. But I never thought it would appear in his book. And certainly didn't expect it on the cover.
In honor of the occasion, and because any excuse to post Bronco pictures, however feeble, is good enough, I think I will post up a few of my favorite shots of the 76 over the last few years. The bottomline: our blue 76 is a multipurpose Bronco, a daily driver, a professional field trip logger, a weekend trail machine, and even a show machine. I think that it is a good, well-rounded representative on the cover of a book about for our off-road machines.
Here are just a few pictures to celebrate.
01. Last summer. 10,000 feet on top of the last eruption from Mount Taylor, NM
02. Last fall. Rio Puerco valley, NM. Guadalupe volcanic neck.
03. Fall, 2008. Bush-wacking at 11,000 feet, western, NM.
04. Fall, 2013. The famous October 2013 Bronco calendar shot. Around 9000 feet.
05. Ditto. Just not in the calendar.
06. 2010. Mean streets of Albuquerque.
07. May 2014. Show and Go Bronco. With the Chariot at 2014 Art Museum Car Show.
08. Ditto. But awards awarded and everybody gone, but they are still looking.
09. April 2014 car show picture taking.
10. June 2014. Dusty, but at altitude and happy.
