Years of speculation, but it sounds like the bronco is coming back for real this time

This has been discussed at the Bronco6G forum, the folks that created the concept pictures. They also created the 6G Mustang concept that eventually was built. So the rumor is Bronco6G is an "Un-official" Ford design and Bronco6G is an "UNOFFICIAL" web site , where they can take their concepts to the public and get feedback....all "unofficially". (6G = sixth generation )
http://www.bronco6g.com/

SUPPOSEDLY:
They are going after JEEP in a hard way.
They acknowledged the lack of a removable top and said new drawing would incorporate that.
I find the statement that it will be built off the F150 extremly unlikely for many reasons, but primarily because of the fact that it will be built on the Ranger production line, as stated in just about every article written about the UAW or Ford here lately.
The pics of a Bronco based off the current F150 or Raptor were a April Fools Day joke .... sorry, end of story.

There are many comments about making it slightly larger than a Jeep, like the EB was back in the day. But keep it small for trail agility....
A simple search shows that the current JEEP is already larger than an EB in every main exterior dimension. Longer, wider , taller. Even the two door version is larger...
So it may not end up being larger than the current JEEPs.
When I made that statement at 6G, and posted the info below, the admins (6G) simply liked my comment.
Read into that what you will.

From other discussions, 6G is considering both 2 and 4 door versions, iirc, the 4 door jeep outsells the 2 door by two or three times. You can't ignore that kind of market segment.

FYI:
------------1976 Bronco------------- 2016 Wranglers
Length --------152.1"---------------- 164" or 184"

Width------------69.1"----------------------74"

Height -----------71.2"--------------------- 73"

So here's an interesting concept:

Ranger = U14
Bronco = U15

It almost sounds like the Ranger will be a pick up form of the Bronco, and the Bronco an SUV form of the Ranger. How credible is the stuff at Bronco6G?

Another idea: Who says the Ranger/Bronco has to be IFS? 2wd yes, but 4wd could be a straight axle. I saw an old Toyota SR5 4x4 pick up today with the straight axle and thought about this new Ranger. That's a perfect example of a mid size pick up with a straight axle, although it is older. The F150 has it's market, so this new Ranger design will stay away from that and be a different niche. Think about the guys delivering parts for AutoZone or NAPA driving the older Rangers. The fleet vehicles and smaller than F150s niche is pretty big and Ford wants as much of that market as possible so it's going to have to be midsize.

Lastly, the 4 door Jeeps far outsell the 2 doors. So if this Ranger/Bronco is offered with 4 doors, is it still a Bronco...? FJ Cruiser designers even knew better than to go strictly 2 door but didn't quite want to commit to 4 doors either.

There have been so many bogus reports of this and really wasn't a fan of bronco II so I refuse to get my hopes up.

Although boss mustangs and GT-40 sure give a glimmer of hope....

well, nothing would top an official announcement from Ford, but that hasn't happened yet.
I'm well past "cautiously optimistic" at this point, maybe even , "pretty certain".

I'm pretty excited about the possibilities. Here's what I think:

Some of us will love it
Some of us will hate it
Some will be middle of the road
Some will wish it was different (i.e. Solid front axle)
But in the end the folks at ford will create a vehicle that maximizes their profits. We all know jeep has had a stranglehold on the removable top small suv market forever. All of us on this board have been sounding the drumbeat to take jeep head on. Finally it seems we will get our wish I just hope ford does it right. I'm not loving the latest drawings, but the original concept? Where do I sign up! Even after all these years I think the original concept bronco is where it's at.

I wish they just produced one similar to the 2004 concept Bronco, that was the closest to keeping to the original and yet had new style. It would have also been a much better competitor to the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

The 6G rendering looks more like a Blazer or full size Bronco modernized...

Ehh! If they are looking to compete with the Jeep then it is gonna need a fully removable top with a rollbar! I doubt that Ford has the nuts to build a retro style badass 20th century bronco. We will see though! For me the design is already done! It was done in 1966 just needs to be brought up to date with today's technology.

This is right on. I see a lot of the new FJ Cruiser guys cutting the tops off and SASing their rigs, to which I ask them, why didn't you just buy a Jeep? Mandatory on the new Bronco should be a full and easily removed hard top and sold axles. I'm all for a retro and minimalist look, but I won't hold my breath for that. We EB lovers that appreciate utility minimalism are not the norm. To win over any part of the Jeep market, it will need all of the above and then some. For the serious wheelers and even mall crawlers today, there are a number of things that Jeep has done that Ford must address. The Jeep's fenders are EASY to remove/highline to fit big tires. The style of the Bronco isn't conducive to this. Will they design the new Bronco to fit 37's with a few hand tools, like a Jeep or will it require the dreaded back and forthy saw?

I believe 100% that it's going to happen, and I still have this sinking feeling that they're going to build something in between what the full size crowd wants and what the EB crowd wants..........and it's going to suck and be a flop. Ford, please prove me wrong!!!!

This is likely what will happen. In trying to please everyone, they will please no one.

Ford to make new Bronco in '17-'18

My question is - what does this do to the value for us early bronco owners? Increase? Hurt the value? Wont matter......

Just curious.

I can only see positive in the value of the classic going up, including the full size ones, especially the '78-'79 models and the '96 model. Suddenly, you'll have an even bigger influx of people wanting to get the classic one to add to the collection of the new one.

However, I doubt it will be ready for 2017. If they rush it, then there is a huge possibility FORD will miss out on the essentials of having a true SUV that will compete better to the newer Jeeps.

Just my opinion, but I think the release of a new Bronco will only increase the interest in EB's.

Yes, the FSB's are going up in value as well. A few year's ago you could pick up a later model FSB in good running condition for $2-3K very easily. Today the prices are $4-6K for a nice driver. And some restored or low mileage ones in very good condition are selling in the teens.
