I found a noise in an interesting location. I had bent one of my coil cups. That and some well worn ball joints the cup would rub my backing plate when turning.

I'm suspecting this. Sounds like upgrade time.

Would hearing the sound help? I need to know where to start looking, what to take apart first.

I think you may be right. I can only get the noise turning. I shot a video for sound. I have to wait until tomorrow when I get to a computer to post.

I have say Iwas about ready to can the Q-jet until (lots of help here) I got it adjusted right. I was on some pretty steep stuff yesterday with not a bobble.

Can I tell if I'm starting to bust off my splinds without pulling the axle? It's making a bad sound now and then after some intense wheeling. When I have it up in the air I can rotate one tire and it enguages the drive line right now. On the other it takes 1/4 turn before it enguages the drive...

I got a Q-jet from BC, upgraded my cam and exhaust. 'Finicky' what TN1776 said for me is an understatement! I'm sure it was mostly me not understanding how to adjust it. The smallest vacuum leak drove me crazy. Once that was fixed it is running very well. Now I need to learn the altitude adjustment.

My pass door had the removable frame. Never could get them to not flop around after wheeling and slamming. So I just welded it up. I'd like some tube doors to throw on.

A little steel wool and some varnish will make the wood new again. But really, I fixed mine with a cheap HF wire feed welder. I have a few hundred slams on the door and its still holding.

I had orig. parchment seats with the fabric in the middle. I re did them with a WH black vinyl kit. They look great! I liked sitting in the old ones better. They were way comfortable just 40+ years old and looked like it. And the black, in Fresno, what was I thinking!!!
