Thanks, for the additional picture. I’ve been considering a full cage for sometime, but not that interested in having the front cage legs getting in the way. I’ve looked a the Krawlers Edge windshield cage. But I feel it’s not safe enough if the worst were to happen. I’m pleased to see someone giving this Tom’s cage design a try. I’m looking forward to seeing how it comes together for you and I appreciate you sharing your project wit us on the forum.

No problem.

This wont be a hardcore trail rig. More just a daily around town cruiser and occasional easy off road stuff. But I wanted to keep my windshield out of my lap if something did go bad....

I think it will work good for that and Im not sacrificing any leg room, my e-brake, or my glove box.

Same here. My Bronco my never see any off roading more difficult than a dirt two track. At one point I was determined to build an off road beast. But now seeing the value of my mostly original Bronco. I’m going to keep it mostly stock with a few modern upgrades. And personal safety is one of them.

Looking good, I like that idea for the front of the cage, I cut my dash for the cage to go behind it, so much nicer not having the front leg of the cage in your way. Keep up the great work!

Yep, I have had 2 Broncos with front legs that get in the way. Not my preference.

I have never seen a factory black bronco, so black is an original color?

I had no idea anyone was making these style front legs for the mass market. Very nice offering and you've done a great job welding it all together.

As already stated, keep up the great work! A lot of us like you have the same challenge of balancing working on our Broncos while raising little ones and it's inspiring for the rest of us to see you making steady progress on it.

Yes, Code "A" listed as "Black" or "Raven Black" depending on what year and/or who was making the list that day.%)
Not shown on most color listings, so not ordered very often. But it was there, and perhaps available as a special order color to some? I've seen it on '75 color charts, and this one is a '70 with that paint code.

I think through Marti Report findings and our own observations over the years, seems Black and Silver were likely the most seldom ordered Bronco colors.

Thank you, I really appreciate the complement. It is tough with young kids for sure...Im coaching the two older ones (water polo teams) and by the weekend Im beat. Any progress at all makes me happy.

The cage is still in the "mock up" phase. And then I will pull it out to weld and gusset appropriately.

By the way, My wife is from Redondo (her parents still live there). Awesome town.

Great area. Or was way back when I was there anyway.
I think I have pictures of us on the beaches there and nearby from the '40's, '50's and '60's! Well, not "us" in those earlier years of course, but at least some members of the family.;D
Fun times.

lgdpt,

What a great story of the professor who owned this before you and what a BEAUTIFUL BRONCO! Great write up, great photos and I'm sure you are going to have an even better time driving it around town.

Keep up the good work and thanks for posting!

Finally put the seat together...

My truck never had a rear seat so i had no holes to contend with.

Since I widened the stance of the seat (to make it stronger and to have room for the speaker/unit).... I purposely made it so it now bolts laterally through the rear inner fenders and down through the floors.

Under the floor I made two custom brackets out of angle iron that surrounds the existing floor support bracket.
