Here are the latest pics for today's work, I got the frame braces and skids all tacked up and body bolted through to the frame. I used a hydraulic bender that I bought on CL for dirt cheap to make the bends. I'm using grade eight bolts, shit is expensive.. But totally worth it. I finished modifying the roll cage, it was made for a soft top and didn't fit inside a hard top. I had to cut n weld and grind a lot to make it fit. I still have to glass the tub..I don't have pics yet of the roll cage but soon... hope the pics do it justice, more to come.

This is the tailgate brace I made a while ago, it's drilled through. I'm making some tube bends from the bolts to the frame next.

I haven't posted in a while due to figuring what The hell I needed to do before i get my brakes done... I need my axles complete in order to mount the tires and cycle it properly.

I'm very lucky to meet such great people on this forum and also die hard enthusiast who are more than willing to lend a helping hand. I have a new friend on here doing me a HUGE favor. You know who you are and I just wanna say thank you. I can't wait to see the results!!

I Finished off tacking up the rear roll cage frame support braces. I still need to finish the rear suspension mounts to the roll cage. Probably doesn't make sense now, but it eventually will.

That progress was a couple of weeks ago, this last week I started working on the roll cage itself.
I still have lots of welding a head, but for now it is tacked up and starting to look like a functioning roll cage. I'm still trying to decide whether I should continue adding pipe to the front for more support or since I have plenty below not to worry about it. Take a look and see what you think, I'm always up for suggestions:

So, ya.. Lots of work ahead.. But this is what we love to do..

Next up I will be hopefully moving on to the shock mounts from the roll cage down to the axle. I need to start pushing hard on this build. Times running out.

Got some more work done:

I welded up 2 4x4 roll cage plates to use as the mounting plate for the shock mounts.

I used 1/4" metal to make the shock tabs which are tacked onto the mounting plate.

Almost time to cycle the suspension.. I need to make some adjustments to the roll cage 1st. then mount the plates to the roll cage. Very excited!

What's up guys long time no talk,

So, it's only been the longest 5 months of my entire life. Within that time, I've been dealing with nothing other than BRAKES.. yup, F'ing brakes...

With in that time, I've learnt that certain brakes will not fit an 8 lug pattern. Although if you have 5 lug, you're golden for a Brembo disc brake upgrade. Yes, that was the plan but sadly it did not work out. So, these came in instead. I'm pretty excited to use them and more so that they fit an 8 lug pattern.

My happiness survived for about 10 mins when I realized that the machine shop screwed up and machined the ID of the hat too small... this is a small clip of me trying to figure out what the FUCK happened!!

https://vimeo.com/185752937

The hat can either sit behind the hub or in front. Wilwood designed there's to sit on the front of the hub. My machinist made it to sit behind the lip of the hub. But because the ID was too small it didn't line up and I had to send it to the machine shop again.

Here is how they look mocked up and incorrect. Once I get the hats back from the machine shop I'll post the correct mock up. I do think they look pretty sweet even though incorrect.

Yes, thanks redwards.

I was able to take the hats to a local machine shop to custom fit them to the Solidaxle Dana 60 hubs. Which are a little on the bigger side than stock FYI, so had to bore them out.

From there I took them to another local shop and had them hard anodized black to offset the colors a little, same company that Wilwood uses

From there, I had to find the right Dorman wheel studs to work on these specific hats and hubs. It was a pain in the ass because I originally was told to get 610-289, but in actuality they were 610-180. I had to shave down the wheel stud heads in order to fit inside the bolt head seat...that took at while.

The longer stud was the correct one. "610-180"

Once I had pressed all the studs into place and seated into the hubs, it was time to figure out caliper bracket location. Since the rear axle did not come with any flanges, I had to improvise and order the ruffstuff 14 bolt weld on flanges.

Once received I had to grind down the inner tabs to the size of my Currie 9" rear axle. I then had the caliper brackets custom made to fit this set up. The tricky part was making sure the offset was correct. So that the flange, caliper brackets, rotors, brake pads all fit accordingly.

These pics are before I corrected the offset.

I wanted the Wilwood calipers to stand out more, so I returned the black calipers and got the Red ones instead. From there I started to work on the front axle.

What do you think?

First up, was to piece together the Dana 60 Kingpin kit. Also, the brackets were different in the front compared to the rear, so I had to re-do steps from above to make sure the offset was correct. The brackets needed some massaging in order to fit on the hubs and around the spindle.

Since everything is getting mocked up for clearance check, I haven't completely installed everything. I wish I could take the jack stand off and have it just sit at full bump. I know jsmall was loving the feeling.

Next will be the ruffstuff high steer link kit.

I can't wait to clean this thing up and show the bling, the surface rust it so annoying.

Ruff Stuff 7/8" Heim kit done, I also went ahead and got the PSC ram assist installed too.

I wanted the Artec highsteer but, I blindly bought the solid axle high steer arms thinking it wouldn't matter when it came to mounting them with the heim kit.

This is what I came up with in order to get the strength and movement I wanted.

Working on the body now, getting it ready for it to go to paint.

I used fiberglass and filler to dbl strengthen the the firewall. There was a bunch of holes that didn't need to be there.
