Stock steering wheel is the same for 1974 models (Base, Sport, Explorer, etc). But - it is a one year only wheel with a single horn contact vs the dual horn contacts on 1973s and earlier. It’s the one you’ll want if your column and wiring are stock,

1974 wheel on the right in both pics. Can also use the wider two spoke 1975-1977 style, as it also has a single horn contact.

I have that one now, but as I remember on my 74 Ranger I had this one and this one is the one I find coming up when I look, the one I have is a 73? Am I wrong? And thanks for the info! Hope your not too busy🙄

No, you’re not wrong, ‘74 stock wheel looks the same as the earlier ones when installed.

The differences are in the number of horn contacts on the underside, and the “inchworm” /74 vs the tab and hole/73 and earlier on the topside, around the 2-3 o’clock position. Believe 74 was the first year with the horn relay. If you want your horn to work without wiring modifications, you’ll want the correct wheel.

The oem 1974 wheels are not reproduced. The 75-77 style also has a single horn contact, so that’s what comes up as available for 74s,

They do come up for sale, just not as often a the 73 and earlier version.
