Dana 30 King Pin torque specs on caps

Copied from a post years ago, another member verified. If you want you can wait till morning and I'll go look for my books.

Replace the original shim pack under the top king pin cap.
…install the four attaching bolts. Torque to specification (25-40 ft-lbs)
Install an in-lb torque wrench on one king pin bearing cap retaining capscrew and check the torque required to turn the steering knuckle. Adjust the shims until the starting torque is the correct value (9-16 ft-lbs).

This is quoted from the 68 shop manual. Apparently it does not matter which cap screw you use. Yes the manual said to use an in-lb wrench & the value should be 9-16 ft-lbs.
