Love my M5ODR2.....shifts like butter.......

Learned how to drive "stick" on a 3 on the tree.......However for a true driving experience I like a floor shift

I'm a fan of my 3 on the tree behind a 289. Don’t care for the bad synchronizer for 1st gear. Can’t get in a hurry taking off from a stop, or it will pop out of gear. It’s also an anti theft device. I rebuilt the column 20 years ago, still shifts smooth.

My first two had the original 3 on the tree. The first one I rebuilt and it shifted really nice and was a fun novelty. I just got another bronco with an ax15 and it’s way more drivable and functional.

If you look closely at the dash you can see that at some point in time a previous owner wrote down the shift pattern!

I dont miss it in my 67. But I will admit it was completely worn out. I switched to a 3spd floor shifter from Duffs and that made the bronco much more fun to drive. I later switched to a NP-435 and that keep the fun to dive but gave me the low gear for offroad. If I had a really stock truck that was completely original I would leave the 3 on the tree but just about anything else I would want a floor shifter or an auto!

Must admit that there is something strangely satisfying doing the long throw from second into third.... Probably just relief that I am done shifting for a little bit.
