Transmission leak

Yesterday morning I noticed transmission fluid started leaking at a fairly constant drip under the 77 bronco. Looks like it is coming from the side near the shifter mount area. Guessing it’s the shift shaft seal. Anyone ever changed one of these seals out with transmission still in the vehicle? May just let transmission shop handle this one but thought I would check here first.

There are two seals on the shift shaft of a C4 tranny.
One is a shaft seal. It seals around the shift shaft. You'll need to drop the tranny pan and valve body to get to it.
The other is an o-ring at the end of the shift shaft' This one can be changed by simply removing the arm from the end of the shift shaft. This is the one that usually fails.
