Man, I can't keep up...

There is now a Gen V for the Vintage Air that is out. They do not yet have it available for our Broncos, but I called and he said once they get one and are able to test fit everything, it will be out.
I asked if it's months or closer to a year and he said months.

So anyone about to pull the trigger might want to wait. I bought the nice Dakota Digital overpriced control panel already and he said the controls will be the same so all good there.

Said the improvements are how it's assembled, how it looks more factory and accessibility on replacing parts.

Worth waiting imo since I have some time anyway.

Thanks for heads up. Unfortunately not seeing anything about outside air intake. Still great to see the improvements tho.

I was wondering about that...does it only pull air from inside? Is that what you mean?

X2 on what CowboyGrin said. If they really want to design the next upgrade, they should be looking at the big problem with current systems, no allowance for using the external air sources. Until they allow use of the OEM outside air sources, I will continuing waiting for an AC system.

Anybody looked at what it would take to fab something? Can’t be that hard….but I understand what you mean.

I eliminated my fresh air box so it wouldn’t work to come from there for me.

simple fab work to inner fender to allow air in but as soon as it gets cool you'll want to recirculate the cool air.

All I can say is that there are many days inbetween summer and winter when just having a blast of fresh air coming in at the feet is all you need. The driver's side and passenger side vents do that. Besides, taking a perfectly good fresh air vent that was engineered into the vehicle and closing it off offends my engineering sense. I just refuse to do it.

Yeah. I know I prob don’t need it but it was my plan from the start 20+ years ago and sold all my stock heater stuff back then. And while I like the vent windows when I want a breeze in my face, I hate them at all other times and so I now deleted them.

I also LOVE the Dakota Digital Vintage Air control….it is SWEET looking and I can’t wait to see the final setup and so glad it will work with the Gen V too.

Perhaps a bit of a rip off, but so nice:

I deleted the fresh air vents and with the explorer setup really just need the evap and I can build my own system. I wanted to have the climate control on my lcd screen but no one makes them to work with vintage air units, vintage air has no plans to make an app, so I will prolly go Dakota as well for controls. They are much better then the stock controls.

I thought about something like that but I'm building it into my console and I think it'll be even better. On the first section below the dash, I'll have two vents, the VA control and my seat heater switches. I'll post a pic when the console is done.

Did you do the paint yourself? Did you paint the stripes?

Looks great!

I hear they are relatively close (I hope) on the Bronco Gen V. I've been bugging them and they've been helpful.

Since I'm doing my own thing with engine/compressor/line routing/vents, I worked with them to order everything I need except the condenser unit so I can still make progress on other stuff.

Just a thought if anyone is in the same place and doing it the same way and waiting to order.

I ordered:
045017 - Compressor adapter block (to use Explorer Compressor)
UNIVERSAL HOSE KIT PN 547001 - since I'm routing my own lines not through the Fresh Air Vent and likely using a bulkhead adapter
Condenser 012001
Trinary switch – PN 110061 (for using electric fan)

I'll still need the bulkhead adapter and fittings once I figure out my routing and angles
Need to order the Proline vents (man those are pricey) for my dash (just forgot)
Gen V Evaporator Kit (once out)

Are these vintage air part numbers? I am attempting to use the explorer a/c compressor and not adding anything extra.
