I'm leaving Indiana Wednesday morning and heading southwest with final destination of Big Bend National Park. I'm driving a Burnt Orange 66 roadster with doors installed. If you see me driving, flag me down and we can have a beer/coffee and talk Bronco's. If you see me broke down, stuck or wrecked I always appreciate a hand.

Other than that, Merry Christmas to everyone!

Sounds like a neat road trip. Enjoy the drive, stay warm and post up some pics as you go so we can vicariously ride along. Safe travels and Merry Christmas!

We will be in Big Bend Dec 30-Jan 2, not sure if you will be there by then.

My parents are volunteers in the Park. They help run the Rio Grande Village visitor center on the southern side of the park. Stop in with your Bronco and say hello. Their names are Robert and Glenda.

Terlingua is a nice place to stay & eat.

The Starlight Theater is great and my favorite. We will be making a visit to it as well next week.

For me Pa, I’ve been going since I was a about 1. We live about 4 hours away, and my parents would always take us for camping in the spring or fall/winter.
During the winter time the weather can be one extreme to the next. Two years ago we were there on Christmas Day and it was nearly 90. 36 hours later it snowed and shut down half the park.
Spring time is beautiful, especially when the Big Bend bluebonnets are blooming and all the desert cactus plants are blooming too.
I love that part of Texas, it’s part of me just like the Big Pines region of East Texas holds a place in our family too.

You must have done the heater upgrade. Safe travels. Ken

You're not kidding !!

I've been fortunate enough to do a good chunk of hiking and camping in some of our national parks. When God was creating things He just spent a little more time in some of those places. They never come off the bucket list.

And please post some pics if you get a chance.

We stayed in the Chisos Basin hotel while we were there and hiked all over the place. Saw black bear, deer, fox and even got a glimpse of a mountain lion. Beautiful views throughout. One of the best hikes is to the window rock beginning at the Chisos basin. There are some hikes that you have to drive a very long way to get to, like Meriscal canyon. Make sure you let the rangers know you are going out there and when to expect you back. The park is huge and there are parts of it they don’t get to for weeks at a time.

Got here a little earlier than expected;D awesome place don't know why it took so long to get here. Didn't bring the bronco, brought the wife's FJ. With the bilstein coilovers and rear shocks, it bombs the back roads and trails here in comfort.

Spent the day getting a few repairs/tweaks finished. Then I realized I never renewed the license plates so I'll do that at 8am then hit the road. Holy cow it's gonna be cold starting out. It's about -15 wind chill here. No I don't have a heater upgrade. And I can't even feel the heater blowing when moving. It's gonna be a hell of an adventure!! See y'all Friday or Saturday.
