Fuse Panel Slide-Out Mounting Bracket?

Hey Everyone,

I thought I remembered reading on the forum (somewhere) that someone had installed a fuse panel on some sort of slide-out bracket under the dash. It's been a number of years ago, and my searching hasn't been very successful.

Specifically I'm looking to mount a Ron Francis Advantage fuse panel under the dash. That fuse panel is pretty big with a number of terminal strips, fuses, flashers and other relays.

The previous Owner sealed up the plenum, so the duct from the heater core to the plenum won't be installed, freeing up some space under the dash.

Maybe I'm imaging reading that someone did this. If anyone has ideas on where to look, I would appreciate being pointed in that direction.

Thanks,

Jeff

I thought it was Ron Francis that had the slide-out mount?
I know they have a whole setup with a magnetic base, but don't think that's a retrofit as much as it is a specific fuse panel setup.

But the slide-out I thought could be retrofitted.
Sorry don't have my catalog in front of me, but will check a little later. Maybe it's another company altogether, but worth a check anyway.

Hi Paul,

You always seem to be on top of things.

You are right. I just looked. There is a swing down panel on their site.

It would be interesting to see an as-installed pic. There is only one picture on the page associated with the product.

Thanks again.

Maybe since you're a user of their stuff, they would send you a pic or three of an install if you call them. Or maybe e-mail is better for this kind of stuff?

I remember a friend of mine used a Ron Francis kit on a Bronco a few years ago. I'll see if he used the bracket, and if so, maybe I have some pics.
Bronco's long gone though, so can't get current pics if I can't find any old ones.

Hi Paul,

I wrote to them as soon as I read your first post yesterday. They are pretty customer friendly, so, I hope to receive some pics soon.

I'll post the pics here if I receive any.

Take Care,

Jeff

Hey Everyone,

I heard back from Ron Francis. They have no pictures of customers' installations.

I was also told that the fuse panel that I have (Advantage) is slightly bigger than the one that the bracket was made for, so the fit will be off.

That's the story from me.

Damn Paul, you are certainly the Shell answer man as of late!;)

It's a lot easier to come up with stuff when I've got all your cool projects nearby to cull information from! Boatloads of documentation on the right way to do things.
Good stuff for sure.

You like how I just laid it all on you? Hah, the pressure's on!

Hi Randy,

I cut out the speaker grill and made a cover for Ron francis I installed, might be a picture in the my build thread page 2 if link does not take you to it

http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55480&highlight=bronco+project&page=2

Thanks for the link. That looks like a great location. How has it worked out for you?

The guy who is finishing up the build is looking at mounting it on the passenger kick panel. The previous owner deleted the air plenum, so there is no duct to the heater core, leaving the space on the kick panel free. Although, getting to it can be a pain.

How have you been doing? Any more trips planned out west? (I read your comments on the Moab thread the other day. I am in total agreement with your opinion of heights on some of the trails. There can be an easy trail with a drop of 1,000 feet + immediately off to the side and there's no reference to the drop in any of the trail book. I guess it's something locals must get used to. lol)

Take Care,

Jeff
