Raptor Liner engine compartment

Hi all,
I'm right in the thick of a restoration and have finished up replacing panels, etc. I'm intending to shoot the body in original Bahama Blue, but while the cabin was stripped, I ended up shooting the floorboards, wheel wells, and tailgate in black Raptor liner. I really like how scratch resistant it acts, and I really like that it covers small inperfections. I'm considering whether or not to do the same to the engine compartment. Anyone have experience one way or the other? Seems like it would seal things up nicely too.

Thoughts?

I did mine with rolled on Durabak 15 years ago and no problems to date. That was on fiberglass tub and FG inner fenders. Other than not looking as nice as some of these EBs with the painted engine bays (and they are nice) I really don's see a downside.

The interior tub, underside, roll-bar and engine bay on my EB are all sprayed with Raptor Liner.

I love it, the stuff is almost indestructible and looks good. Engine bays look beautiful with matching body paint but it would stress me out working in there and scratching it up.

That looks great! Did you tint the raptor liner or spray it the same as the body?

I did mine, wish I just repainted. The texture picks up and holds dust. We have somewhat of a dust issue here in Az. Other than that love it.

Did my engine bay with raptor also. I wouldn’t call it indestructible, as I have some nicks and scratches. But that probably just means it’s way better I went with this than paint!

Happy with the finish and overall look. Did the unsersideandinside of the tub like this also. Will also do inside of front fenders. Fiberglass hood planned, TBD if I raptor that like Jefe or paint it.

I was wondering if the new stuff was any better in that regard. My Dad had a bed liner sprayed in his brand new F350 in 1997. It looked like crap after a month on the farm and after a year you really couldn’t clean it. I thought Id like to do the underside of the tub and the wheel wells if I decide to restore the Bronco, but I drive the crap out of it and I’m afraid the wheel wells would look like hell and be a bitch to clean (I clean up in there when I rotate tires).

Regarding the engine bay, anybody paint and then have that 3M paint protection film applied. Been thinking on that for a while too.

I Purchased kit from same place I bought paint. they mixed each bottle in kit with the same paint without binders in it. I also sprayed entire underside with one coat of Lizard skin than over with Raptor liner. Looks clean

Same issue I have seen a lot and sometime it never looks clean. I decided to paint my coating and happy with how it looks, will have to see how well it holds up long-term.

Is that a pro flo4 ? I'm thinking going that route

I also have my engine out at the machine shop, and while it's there I'm gonna paint the engine bay. Still prepping it but one of the coatings I've seen that looks interesting is Duplicolor Rust Barrier, in black, grey or silver. Not sure if Raptor converts rust, but the advantage of a rust encapsulator is that you can still have some surface rust and it will encapsulate it. My Bronco has mostly surface rust so I'm going in the direction of rust converter/encapsulator. Rust Bullet also looks good, and unlike others it does not need a top coating to protect from UV.

If you have the time and money, Linex is so much stronger/ better then raptor. I have both on my build and it's not even comparable.

For the noise suppression alone is worth it. Makes everything quieter, feel and sound tighter. It also helps with heat. Mine is sprayed inside and underneath with a high quality commercial bed liner. I’ll deal with the not so clean look for the benifits. Mine still cleans ok with a pressure washer, hand washing not so much.
