Hello:

I accidentally stumbled across a Bronco and was wondering what folks with more experience with these vehicles think. Is it too far gone? I couldn't get many pics but it appears to have most parts minus the hardtop. It's very rusty as you can see from the pics in the link below.

Thanks for looking. It's a shame it's been sitting for so long but wouldn't be the first time.

I am always shocked at what condition folks will start a project with. The money may not be a big deal for some, but the time involved always shocks me. So you know how I'm leaning ;D

I dunno brother. That looks pretty rough. But mine was pretty rough when I started too, so who am I to judge?

Some of it depends on what your expectations are for the " finished project " .
8-10 ten years ago at an event on the Oregon Coast there was a guy driving a Bronco around that had plywood floors , no fenders , and lawn chairs or something - LOL - bolted to the floor - - I don't remember if he had a dash or windshield - I backed away not wanting to " catch " anything- LOL
If a guy wanted a decent , nice looking , no issues Bronco he might be better off buying
a new frame and body and staring from the beginning .

As long as the frame is solid, Axles are complete and you are getting it for a good price go for it, I have done one in much worse shape,

I would say pass. It looks pretty well stripped. The big parts are expensive enough, but start adding up all the little parts and those nickle and dime items end up costing more than the big parts in the end.

If you just need a starting point to build a buggy that you plan on beating on, that thing is great. If you want something nice, that isn't even a good parts truck.

Hey at least they put it on blocks. Guess they didn’t know your supposed to put the blocks under the axles. I’ve seen worse it does look like it has been striped for parts.
It a always time and money

front shock mounts is that what stroppe used? Orange paint? Whats the history on it? That would be my only saving point. Other than that, it's worth the vin code.

Looks salvageable to me, but whether or not it is worth the effort depends on your abilities and planned usage for the Bronco. Also, the three pictures I was able to see make it hard to really judge.

Nowadays, you can literally build a Bronco starting from nothing using just aftermarket parts, so technically any Bronco is "salvageable." Regardless, there are plenty of better starting points out there. This is one of those cases where spending $5,000-$10,000 on one in better condition would probably be cheaper in the long run.

Now if your intent is to build a highly modified crawler or something along those lines, and you can pick it up with a title for next to nothing it could be worthwhile since you would be keeping few of the original parts anyways.

I am not trying to be a jerk, but seeing as you had to ask, this is probably not the Bronco for you. It is easy to get burned out sinking tons of time and money into a project like this. Unless it is something you have done before, and genuinely just enjoy wrenching for long hours in the garage over months, and in many cases, years, you would be much better starting off with one that is complete and preferably already running and driving to some extent.

I'd save that one if the price was right. It's hard to tell how bad the rust is from those pics & the way it's setting makes me wonder if they were working on the drive train when the project stalled. If you pass on the project there are lots of people that would be thrilled to tackle that challenge. What state is it in?

Lol... From my area of the country, we would call that a "solid" truck! Actually I dont see any show stoppers. HOWEVER if those are the best three pics he is sharing, then i have my doubts... Need a ton more details.

Really appreciate everyone’s feedback. It looks picked over but most everything is there including the doors. They were under cover next to his shop. He said it’s. 66 or 67 but no Title. Has a 289. Agree that it’s more project than I want to tackle. Maybe for the right price it could useful to someone.

Just from looking at that tarp draped over the transfer case shifter and how tall it is, I'm going with 66'.
