2000 explorer returnless fuel plumbing

I've never plumbed a returnless explorer set up, but have done a few 96-98s.

So I have a tank, external frame mounted e2000 pump, fuel line to fuel rail, and a vacuum line hooked off the intake to the fuel rail regulator vacuum port.

Is this incorrect? I read in another post I may have to run some extra parts with this system?

The fuel rail vacuum port on the returnless systems is just a pulse damper.

Add an external fuel pressure regulator set to 43PSI on the 19LB injectors or 59PSI with the 17LB injectors. Another option for the 59PSI regulator is the 3-port Corvette ('03?) fuel filter that has the regulator built in.

That E2000 pump won't like being dead headed without the regulator and the fuel pressure will be wrong as well.

I see..

It starts and runs about 1-2 seconds and dies. I am assuming this plumbing being jacked up is my issue, LOL.

So replace my current filter with this and run the return back to my tank.

If you decide to flip to an in-tank pump, i went with the Tanks Inc PA-2 with the in-tank explorer regulator in my 2001 Explorer returnless setup.

I checked my fuel pressure before never had a second person to watch my fuel pressure guage while it was starting and running before it died.

Who knows what my fuel pressure was doing.

I’ve been running that Corvette regulator since about 07 with an external pump and been very happy. Have one on my bronco as well, but I never have run one one a ford motor lol. But if you need 58-60 psi in a return less fuel rail I’d be all over it. @ntsqd has also made a fuel pressure regulator block using an off the shelf fuel rail regulator.

Did you have to do any other wiring or sensors for the returnless? I have same tank and pump.

what pump are you using? Is it loud? The one I have is very loud and I switched it out 2-3 times to get one a bit quieter. No success.

I run a Walbro GSL392 pump. I run that in a fuel pump bracket for a 1990 f150 or 99-03 super duty with a diesel. The F150 bracket needs foam added for the pump to fit securely, the SD one is the same diameter.
