Ive been wanting another EB for a long time. Ever since I sold mine prices got out of reach for me. Prices appear to be coming down some. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a decent deal.

Better finish my son's 70 mustang first. lol

The 70 is a bare fastback shell. It's in storage right now. I really need to find a 70 coupe parts car for it. We bought it when he came home from bootcamp.

I sold mine as I wanted to take a fresh approach to the build. Less hard core offroad, more street. Decided that to pull off what I wanted would require so many changes the best plan was to sell and start over. Sell happened, then prices went nuts. I keep looking.
To keep me going I found a '77 F250 that I played with for several years. Nice to have that old truck to play with. Also got me my first big block to own.
Lately I have been collecting non-valuable small block Ford V8s and parts. Reverse rotation cam and starter? Got that. 1-barrel intake manifold, got one of those as well. Aluminum 2-barrel intake manifold, factory, not cast iron. The latest I have feelers for, 302, or really 151 cubic inch air compressor. Going for the biggest collection of non-speed, low value, unicorn parts.

Sounds like we both sold around the same time. I sold mine to put money into the house. New fence, new tile and so on.

2010. I put mine into a daily driver and started looking for another Bronco as soon as it was paid off, about 9 months. And soon it was out of sight. I am still driving that daily driver. I can't buy a shell for what I sold mine for.

Yup! I refuse to pay 40G for something that needs another 40G invested. I appreciate the old-school owners and the stories we could trade when you would find another care-taker. I typically don't have anything in common with someone who can pay 80G, then dump another 80-100 for someone else to build it for them. I don't blame the builders, I blame sites like BaT and the ignorance it brings. I'm still convinced it's a way to hide money through trust and LLC purchases.

I bought a '66 Nova that had a full Heidts front end with rack and pinion and TCI four link in the back, crate engine and trans, upgraded cooling system, full interior redone nice shiny show car paint in the original hue, for WAY less than you can touch a Bronco of similar condition. Funny part is, when I had four Broncos throughout various stages in my life, I appreciated the majority not knowing what it was; now everyone knows and t-shirts and toys are abundant.

Maybe one day I'll have another, and maybe not.

I have not really used mine as much as I should and I have owned it 11 years. For what I paid and how I use it it is great and it would be real difficult to buy another decent one in similar condition for less than say 25K. The thought of selling occurred once or twice but I can't replace it for what I consider reasonable. I am very grateful to have what I have and be able to enjoy it. I remember that.

Just my opinion, but I think we are seeing a split. Many Broncos are 35k and up, some are way up, but you can drive them etc.. Or they are 10-15K and real rough and most likely not driveable. Same thing as classic cars. Either somewhat cheap but need 20K to use or a fair amount more but you can use them as is.

Local prices appear to be falling but everything is a major project, which I'm okay with. But 10-15K for a project is still a lot of money.

I am the same way, I bought mine 14 years ago. Drove it a bunch when the kids were young. Now that they are grown I might get it out twice a year. Paid $6,900 dollars for it then and rebuilt the tranny. I can't replace it for less than $30-$40 now or more. About every 6 months I tell myself I am going to sell it, but I never will. It's safe in the garage , when I am dead an gone my youngest will get it. He can do as he wishes with it.

I am in the same boat. I got mine 20 years ago for $2,200 and have put god only knows how much more into it over the years. I had a bunch of others over that 20 year span but always kept the first one. I drove it twice this year. I think about selling it all the time but so many memories and I know to replace it it will be at least $40k to get me into another one. I would have kept others but I have lost my storage space at home and at my shop. So I only got room for one. I will probably keep it unless something drastic happens, maybe when I retire I will have time to mess with it again and do the frame off I always wanted to do.

I sold mine completed for $20,000 about 8 years ago due to wanting to start new from scratch and pay off a car. Prices took off and I haven't been able to find a junky one for about $5,000 since.

So I bought a 69 f100 for $1000 and built it to keep my mind busy.

Now looking for another classic bronco, preferably a 69 to match the truck.

I have more questions than answers.

Why wait. You aren't interested in the money it will bring. Why not be here to watch your son enjoy it and be there to help him keep it going??

You probably have other things you can give any other kids. It's not about equality in money, but about things they value. You can control the narrative now and keep it from possibly breaking the kids relationships. I see too many people say they will let the kids figure it out after they die. Many families are destroyed doing that. Make sure your wishes are met and sit back and enjoy watching them having fun with what you passed on.

Ok, off my soap box.

He's been banned from driving it by my insurance right now, too many accidents. Couple more years and he will be free to roam.

Perfect. Plenty of time for him to get to know it on a first hand basis and do any maintenance and repairs. Make it something to be proud of, so he makes wise choices every time he gets behind the wheel. Enough sweat equity generally makes them appreciate things more and take better care of their hard work.

Why start new from scratch? That Bronco looks great!

I sold that one to pay off some bills, thinking I would always be able to pick up a junker for $2-4000 and start again like I had always done every couple years.
