Thanks for the heads up! What did you end up doing?
Fortunately, I had the restoration shop, modify the passenger cowl to level it out. Not knowing that the ECU, evaporator interference was going to be an issue. With ECU in the center of the firewall. As luck would have it. The raised cowl allowed enough room to mount the ECU above the evaporator on the passenger side of the firewall.

I would add...

More than likely, if for some reason you had to change out the ECU, you will have to pull the upper intake for clearance.
You probably will have to relocate the heater control valve cable hole lower and fill the factory hole.
Clearances for the other control cables inside might be affected.
Ducting hoses for the defrost might have conflicts...

Have you already relocated your charcoal canister gnsteam? Was it already eliminated, or moved to another location?
Obviously, even if we didn't know it was a '76, the location of the lower canister mounting bracket there on the firewall is a dead giveaway.
I assume there is no room above the heater control cables back in that middle area? Doug's comment about the upper plenum for accessing the ECU would be enough to move it over to it's new position on the passenger side, but how does the glovebox fit into the mix?

I mounted my ECU in the same location as gnsteam. No glove box interference issues at all. I'm using the Vapor Trapper instead of the charcoal canister, but it's mounted in the same location. It's just a smaller unit so easy to configure the location. It's a process. Just another reason resto-mods take so freakin long to get done, and a reason this forum exists. I can't imagine how any of us would ever finish without it!

Hi Paul. I moved the charcoal cannister over to the drivers side. And as Hopstr mentioned. There is no clearance issue with ECU and Vintage Air glovebox.
