So much I could write about, does, don’ts, lessons learned. We are about two weeks out, doing it the old school way. We don’t have a paint booth, but we have a ventilation/exhaust system set up. I have been on this project since 2012 And it has and still is a journey. But along the way I have met some really stand up people in this community, mainly . classicbroncos.com I joined this site in 2004 when I bought the first of two broncos I have owned. Anyhow, between several close friends here where I live and this site, I can see a dim light in the 2025 tunnel. Thought this would be a good place to thank you and encourage those on or about to start their journey. If the journey ended suddenly, it would have been worth for the enjoyment and friends I have made here. I will post up some lessons learned and buyer beware issues.

Rule #1 it will require modification, direct fit is a myth.
So true. The restoration shop that repair and painted my Bronco. Has two other full builds with complete new bodies. They said they will have about the same number of hours into the new bodies. As they put into my OEM restoration.

My friend who is doing paint and body (I am the cheap labor) said the same thing. We will have about 200 hours in body work, prep and paint. I will also have between 1500 - 2000 dollars in supplies . i am good at remembering running totals and such, important stuff not so much lol.

I have that one, now I need to get off my ass and start filling it out! Coincidently, I was watching a few of the Crazy Horse episodes last night, I haven't seen them in years.

Looking forward to seeing some paint on your build. (y)
Hopefully next week, body work is complete

Rule #4 remember the show with the life lines, phone a friend, poll the audience and 50/50. Make sure you have life lines for your build. This forum has been all of the mentioned for me

We have to repaint hood an tal gate, got those sanded, but my buddy’s old compressor is acting up, so we have to be maintenance workers and see if we can get her going or have to buy new. Painting is harder than it looks lol. Just another day in the life of a retiree

What happened to the hood and tailgate? Was it contaminated with something before the paint went down?
