Is there an alternative gas pedal assembly?

I'm looking for an alternative to the stock gas pedal assembly. I have a 351W with stock size body pucks. My cable has to do quite a bend to clear my valve covers and I think it's causing a lot of resistance in the cable. I have the Lokar cable installed on Sniper EFI. I don't think my return is the exact same every time. Not enough to show change in TPS but enough to mess with IAC. I'm considering moving the stock pedal up about 1-2" but would rather not drill more holes as an experiment.

Ran mine back through the hole where the rigid linkage came through. I put a loop in it behind the carb so it wouldnt be such a sharp bend. Works great. This is a 351 with stock body mounts also.

did you move the pedal assembly up for that? I'm thinking I'll have to elongate the lower side of the pedal assembly and move it up. I like the loop! that looks smooth. Can I talk you into a picture that shows how close to the top you went and then how your pedal looks?

And because they are both 351s, I would get measurements of how tall the valve covers are at that point.
Another data point to compare.

yes, this is what I'm looking for in wanting to see the top of the cowl. I think what I'm seeing in hunter1's picture (thank you for the great reference picture!) is the cable is now at the height of the original hole where the big wire bundle came through and he also moved that up (wish I had thought of that). I'm pretty solid on the engine side but I'm hoping to see where the pedal sits to decide if I want to reshape or lengthen the pedal side of the lever. looks like the assembly is moved up about 1-1.5"

Did you use a wedge nut to angle the exit of the cable through the firewall. If you angle the exit up using ‘s angle nut (or simply make your own) you might be fine.

I’ll take a few pics and send them this evening. I did add to the upper gas pedal linkage to align the cable.

I used a Lokar pedal. I wrote about it in my build thread and in response to someone else asking, but lmk if you want me to dig up the info.

I moved the hole through the fire wall up as others mentioned then cut the pedal lever/arm and welded in an extension to bring it in line with the hole.

351w with stock motor mounts, Ford Racing valve covers and Lokar cable.

Here is a couple of pics. The cable picture is a little cluttered now with all of the hoses and wiring in the area now, but you can see the layout. The pedal picture shows the added length and couple of mounting holes drilled for alignment of the cable.

Yes, I used the wedge but I really just need it to exit higher.

Wow! Thank you for this. It seems that I'll be moving it up just like that. Do you feel that your actual pedal is too high off of the floor now? This would have been so much easier when the engine was out! Might need to post a recommend for 351W install ideas. Game changer!

Also, that everyone who added to this. I'm grateful for the thoughts and pictures. I'll probably make a big hole and make a backing plate for the engine side to bolt it all to. I can't believe one of the vendors hasn't made a kit for this. I would have paid.

Just saw this... Yup, move the hole up higher for the cable and make sure you loop the cable to relieve the strain/stress so you don't need stronger return springs... just like mentioned in earlier posts. Just adding to the positive replies above. Cable sheaths wear out when the curves or angles are to sharp.

Pedal location never really moved, sits as originally mounted. As far as angle, it’s adjustable with the throttle cable length. Mine is adjusted to get full throttle plate opening. Not too high.

Same here. Many have to change the pedal geometry.

Large single opening throttle bodies cause rpm sensitivity issues at minimum throttle movement
