We just installed a painless, previously installed an AAW in 2023. Both were not terribly bad, but rest assuredNickis kit will be easier than either mentioned. Wiring a bronco with the kit loomed should be straight forward. Price is good also.

i haven't rewired a bronco, but i'm curious if or how much of this kit i'd need to reloom or redo on mine. like would the benefit that this kit offers be applicable in my case.

Shimmy,

-This harness will be a direct install in your 1977. It does not include the duraspark harness so you would have to re-use or order that section seperatly from us. If you change to a pertronix ignition it will massively simplify the install.

-All of the loom that is installed on this harness would not have to be changed or modified unless you wanted to. That is the beauty of this harness! You will only need to loom the engine sensor and coil wires as those are "cut to application".

PCB 4X4, Yes, and No. This harness is a good mix of both.

-We include 2 different alternator harnesses so that you can run either a stock externaly regulated alternator or a 1 wire.
-The gauge cluster wiring is set up to directly plug into an OEM cluster but if you clip off the connectors the wires can all be installed into an aftermarket cluster module.
-Lighting wiring is the same either way.
-4 additional circuits for accessories like power windows, power locks, heated seats, etc. Plus 2 open circuits for a power port and stereo wiring.
-All of the other really "custom" installs such as fuel injection, A/C, Amplifiers, Power steps, Etc would have thier own stand alone harnesses and would only require key on power sources that are available with the included additional circuits.

Just ordered!

I did an AAW harness a few years ago. I’m excited to see how much easier this one will be!

This is a fantastic product and tempted to sell my uninstalled painless kit. I just unboxed it a few days ago.

My hang-up with this kit is the choice of loom. I hate that type with a passion, though it may be functional, I am a split loom kind of guy.

isn't this split loom? or are you referring to the braided (split) loom?

I do agree on the split loom. I am really not a fan at all of the plastic split loom. The rest looks geat.

Would this be a good choice for the explorer swap? Or would much of it have to be cut up under the hood anyway?

Nick can answer for sure, but I can’t see why it wouldn’t be. Pretty much any body harness would work.
You need to lay out the chassis harness, lay out the engine harness, see how they would best be tied into each other, and work the spaghetti factory into a piece of fine art!😉😁

Any common EFI conversion/swap into an old vehicle is typically using a stand-alone engine control harness and computer.
This means all that the body/chassis harness has to provide are:
1. switched power (usually 12V in the ON and START positions only)
2. constant power (usually added by the installer)
3. copious grounds (also mostly supplied by the installer)
4. A START only signal maybe?

Sometimes a tach signal for the computer, but that’s typically in the engine harness, I believe.
Final tally would come from the engine harness builder.
If you’re using a harness from EFIGuy, Garry would be able to provide the full picture.

My 68 has a full Explorer swap deftly handled by the old plain Jane Centech harness. This new harness should handle all those duties and more.
Maybe 904Bronco can chime in with his experiences using Centech and Explorer harnesses to give an idea of any special needs that might crop up.

I am in desperate need of a new wiring kit for my 76 and I am close to ordering this from you. Can you please share the info on the pertonix ignition that I would order to replace my duraspark II ignition? Are there any other items besides the harness and ignition that I would need to rewire a 76?

Paul pretty much covered it. Two separate harnesses that just need a little communication from each other.
The 4 items he listed, Tach signal from Explorer harness, If automatic, then you have the 4th gear lock out switch, inertia switch wires, signal from the brake switch. No Hacking involved. ;)
