It’s amazing how many people we’ve met out there and now trek out the same week every year to catch up with a bunch of them. In fact everyone in this pic I met wheeling, met Mark in the 2door jeep 25 years ago, he even bought a house years ago close to us knowing we would be where we are sooner or later. Randle and Family in the 4 door jeep we met on Poison Spider, lost, been friends ever since. Of course Mr and Mrs Stout22 are some of the best chosen family a fella could be blessed with. This is just a small representation.

Great thread! Living only about 6-7 hours from Moab I try to get there once or twice a year. Taking the new Bronco there in May. I usually take the trail rig but I have had my old Rubicon there a couple times. This will be the first time in my Gen6. Looking for some new trails considering clearance issues for stock 4-door Sasquatch Broncos (35's and no added lift), Yeller has already recommended a few - Thanks Steve! That said, we'll do some of the old favorites too (Hell's Revenge, Poison Spider, ??). Group will consist of 3 new Broncos and 3 JK/JL Rubicons.

I highly recommend Moab to anyone who has not been there before!

Poison spider is way doable in a 4 door 6g just be prepared to hear a few bumps at the switch backs or going to the overlooks. Nothing terrible but will be some. Hells revenge is a blast, I’ve gotten where I do it early in the day to avoid the traffic of the afternoon, there are so many tour groups.

Moab is not for everyone. I’ve taken people there that didn’t know they were afraid of heights…. Then we took them up the Moab Rim…. If the first blind curve to the left didn’t get them the off camber right turn looking over the edge at Devils Crack certainly would get them. I’ve gotten where I don’t like taking groups up on that trail, it’s not that difficult but it is visually stimulating enough that people will do things that you never thought they would do, had several roll just to being all weirded out. I got where we would not do that or hells revenge first, we’d build up to it.

Story time from days gone by, it’s related so hopefully all good. One run up the Moab Rim trail we could see a jeep sitting at the Devils Crack (a highly visually stimulating point). We get there and it is still there. We can hear kids crying and some very stressed voices. The driver was mentally froze up, poor guy had his family, they were alone and he was having a full on panic attack. Took a bit but we got him calmed down to the point that we could get everyone out of the vehicle. We talked to them for probably 30 minutes. When emotions were calm we offered to take them back down or they could come with us, they opted to come with us. On the way back down he faced his fears and drove back down, they wheeled with us for the next 2 days and had a great time. Moral of the story, surround your self with the right people, stay calm and everything is attainable.
I made a mistake on the road we were on, it was Horse thief trail down to mineral bottom trail. We haven't done shafer yet, not sure which is worse. I can totally understand people locking up and panicking in situations like that.

Not sure about ATVs but rental jeeps have restrictions on what trails you can use them on.

@FRANKO289 The rental places will help with trails. Jeeps are less expensive to rent. A few places are x amount per day and then a charge per trail from $10 to $1000+ per trail. They have a rate list and use GPS tracking so they know where you’ve been. Side by sides are a faster ride though. Lodging, shop Airbnb, Vrbo, etc. you can often rent a condo for same or less than a hotel.

When my wife and I went to Mab last year we were in an AWD ford escape. We were able to see a lot of areas, nothing crazy but there is so much to see that you can at least get a good idea of what is there.
