How common are special order early broncos? Any of you own special order broncos?
Does it add any value or just a cool topic on the data tag? I bought my 1st EB this yr and it was a special order in 66. So just looking for insight etc.

I've bought and sold a lot of 6 digit dso broncos. Beyond being a curiosity, I haven't seen them commanding any sort of premium.

My Marti report says mine was a Retail order. Marti's explanation is "Retail – an individual comes to a dealership and orders an as yet unbuilt vehicle."

While that does make sense given that it had a fairly unusual equipment combo, I can't imagine it being worth more because of that.

Ford has long been known for having a lengthy option list. No big deal to go into a dealership, pick what you want and have it built. Nothing special except to the person who ordered it that way.

I've heard currently there are more configurable options than number of trucks that will be built every year. The only time you see 2 matching trucks coming off the line are fleet orders

As for Broncos, pretty common for the Marti reports to come back to one of only a couple options that way.

How common was dealer installed a/c?
My first Bronco was a '75 Ranger with a/c. At the time I thought a/c was a factory option.
I'm not looking at this as a what would it be worth now, but just general curiosity.

I was young and dumb and I removed it because I planned to have the top off in the summertime.
If only I knew then what I know now.
WHY DID I SELL IT??

Just curious, why do you say your '66 was a special order? 6 digit DSO, or maybe because of something else?

Many dealers didn't have huge lots full of inventory like today. Customers would look at the sample cars on the lot, then order what they wanted.
I have my dads '69 F250, including the original order form he filled out. There are 10 different options for mirrors. There were also the option package specials, which saved on checking the details. Camper special, farm and ranch special, contractors package, and heavy duty special.
