I feel ya! I’m cheap but my wife thinks I spend $$ like water. And that’s why I don’t allow ANYONE to make comments like that, especially if my wife is within 100 yards… because I can’t stand to get “caught” with an unexplained expense. Lol R

Finding the correct timing tape for my 347

Paint pen? 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 why couldn’t I have thought about paint pen! Just happen to have bought new ones for marking metal to cut. Still gonna put the tape on to mark the damper and make a ‘tick’ mark with the paint pen. R

    1970 Ford Bronco 302 - Build Thread

Just make sure if you’re going to store it dry to plug the inlet and outlet pipes to keep the mice, dirt daubers and other destructive critters from homesteading in it. Don’t ask my why I know that. Randy

    MS Extra parts for sale

Actually contemplating going from 3 on a tree to a 3 on the floor shifter. Had a Duff 3 speed floor shifter in a previous EB…kinda miss it (I think) R

Finding the correct timing tape for my 347

I keep forgetting that ‘91 is getting old enough to have been “molested” before I got it. Figuring I’m the 6th or 7th owner, so the damper may have well been sanded smooth. The engine in my EB is from a ‘91 mustang, according to the casting # on the block and the valve covers that were on it. R

Finding the correct timing tape for my 347

I would do exactly that…IF there were timing marks on my damper. I’ll just have to clean off the thing and post pics of it as it appears no one seems to believe there’s no marks. When I get home from wife’s doctor appointment Monday I’ll do that. R

Finding the correct timing tape for my 347

The tape I ordered from Summit Racing has 6 strips that cover from 5.25” to 8” diameter damper. I’m thinking that there’s one of them that gets what I need. R

Finding the correct timing tape for my 347

I just cut a cord and a half of oak firewood that has to be split and stacked… it to mention the honey do list. Lol 😂 I figure I’ll take enough breaks to get the tape on. R

Finding the correct timing tape for my 347

@Soylent , appreciate it! Just ordered a set from Summit that covers 5 or 6 diameters. Was afraid I was gonna have to find TDC and do actual math to scribe each mark on the damper. I’m still gobsmacked that there’s no marks for setting the time. R

Finding the correct timing tape for my 347

Maybe this is an ignorant question, but I don’t have any ‘scribed’ timing marks on my harmonic balancer/damper. As in zero! I cleaned all the paint off and searched in vain…nada, nothing, zilch. Is it possibly that a PO removed the factory damper for a generic one? I don’t really mind but...

    Mini Starter

Don’t remember what kind of high torque mini is on mine, but it’s got a 1/2” of stainless washers that’s shim it out. Same problem as you are describing. I asked the shop that installed it if it was the correct one and not for an auto trans. They checked and said it was the right one. At some...

    Rear Axle Whine

Before I pulled the 3rd member, I’d consider jacking up the rear end and running through the gears and checking to see if it’s an axle bearing going out…lots easier to replace. Is your rear axle a posi or limited slip? If not, you only have to jack up one side at a time. There are more members...

    THOUGHTS ON HALF CAB

You could be like me and have both knees replaced and a vertebral burst fracture. That took me from 6’0” down to 5’10”. On second thought, I can’t really recommend that just to fit comfortably in a half cab. 😂😂 Randy

    THOUGHTS ON HALF CAB

I’ve had both full cab and half cab. HALF CAB POSITIVES : easier to heat in winter. Air circulation is better in summer. Lighter than full cab makes it so much easier to take off when you’re going topless. Less material to paint. Looks cool. HALF CAB NEGATIVES : minimal lockable interior...
