    FireBronco.... Smash and Fix.

@Madgyver, after all these years just noticed the tag line below your avatar: BRONCO MADMAN. 😂 beginning to appreciate the zest at which you attack life! Glad you’re no worse for wear and have the EB back on the road. It’s sad that you get put in those positions but we do gain some knowledge...

Getting rid of fumes - need next level help

And if you’re running a wagon top, make certain that you have the rear stake pockets sealed…my go-to was ALWAYS duct tape over any bolt holes that will indeed allow fumes in. Randy

Clunking when getting on and off the gas

Is your rear suspension lift a new set of springs or a lift block? I have seen the locating pin on the block shear off and cause a clunking noise. Randy

Getting rid of fumes - need next level help

Do they turn out in front or back of the rear tires? My earlier EB had header mufflers that the pipe angled back and exited in front of the rear tires and I don’t recall ever having an issue with odor. full top on or off, bikini top or not, windows up or down. Maybe mine was just a unicorn. Randy

@DirtDonk and @Broncobowsher, that’s what I was looking for. I’ll read and re-read this thread until I’ve gathered enough understanding to talk some more with the engine builder. This collective knowledge in the forum is indeed vast!! Thanks for putting it in some basic terms for me. Randy

@daddycreswell, at least you have the priorities in order: 1st see the grand and THEN ask the wife for help. Randy

Needing direction on a new restoration

I got a Miller multiprocess machine. Can run 110 or 220. Will stick, flux core, MIG, TIG and can hook up a spool gun and weld aluminum. It’s not cheap ($2K) but it’s a good rig. I looked at an Eastwood that’s comparable and cheaper. Went with the Miller because there was one local and I didn’t...

Needing direction on a new restoration

If you haven’t already been there, check the “classified” section in the forum. There’s usually a good many parts for sale. If there’s a specific item that you need, there’s a place to list the part(s) you’re looking for. Maybe that will help you. Randy

    Guess this part game

Mine were rusted so badly that they sort of fell apart on the way out of the frame. I planned on replacing them with a plain metal strip with bolts welded on to stick through the frame to make the clamshell easier to mount. Randy

Yeah, I did, at one point in time but can’t put my hands on it now. I could possibly go back and ask about it but seriously doubt he keeps copies. His shop and my mind are about equally cluttered. I do have access to AvGas (110 octane low lead) at a reasonable (?) price that I plan to mix with...

    Guess this part game

I’m thinking it holds a securing nut inside the frame rail ( which ne per side) to screw the rear bolt to secure the rear poly tank clamshell. Randy

Needing direction on a new restoration

As others have said, there’s ALWAYS more to do than you can imagine. I intended to merely redo brake lines and fuel lines and sort out the wiring, maybe sand a bit and paint some. I’m into the 3rd year after getting it back from an engine build and it’s on jack stands with all the front sheet...

Can’t remember what the compression ratio wound up being. He started talking 12:1 but I wanted to run pump gas. I’ll have to go back and ask, but I’m remembering he was shooting for either 10.5:1 or 11:1. It WILL run on pump gas but doesn’t really like it. Have been adding some octane boost and...

    H4 Headlights

Went by Toyota dealer here yesterday and ordered a set. Will be here Monday or Tuesday for 30.84 tax and all. Since the original lights didn’t work when I bought the EB, figured I’d need new ones anyway. ( H4 for the win!) Randy

    BAT Craziness

Yep, @okie4570, the tire kickers rummage around on line more frequently now. I think they just trying to show knowledge that is lacking. Randy

@lars, thank you for the explanation. Showing the numbers of your 408 and the 5.0 gives me some idea of kinda where my cam grind lies. Good stuff to know, and it also shows how much “education” I’m trying to gain here. The engine shop that built this knew I wanted an engine that built power...
