    Electrical Fire - Under Dash

is there a way to "cap" off that stud terminal so wires don't hit it and short out?

    Electrical Fire - Under Dash

Weird thing is, the radio would still power up (but non-functional because no speakers). So if the ground was off, I wouldnt expect the display to show up?

    Electrical Fire - Under Dash

Havent been brave enough to hit the key again. I was going to cut some zipties, unplug the radio harness and assess further first. Here is a photo of the loose wire with fork terminal that seems to have burnt up for its entirety and leads to the back of the radio. This photo was from a few...

    Electrical Fire - Under Dash

I followed your advice from post #15 here: https://classicbroncos.com/forums/threads/4g-wiring-for-dummies-like-me.281353/#post-3554668 , I believe. I capped off a bigger black wire and the only other big black wire was the "defacto" power source wire with fusible link that is still intact and...

    Electrical Fire - Under Dash

Here is a quick video of the wiring. Please take a look and let me know if you notice anything.... The smoked wire that runs all the way to the stereo was IN FACT touching the stud terminal on the ignition when I first looked at it. Again, the ring terminal crumbled off before the video. This...

    Electrical Fire - Under Dash

Yes I meant the center stud. Thought it was a ground for some reason. You would think if that was such an issue it wouldn't be designed to be exposed like that?

    Electrical Fire - Under Dash

Yes. The bronco has ran for 20-30 minutes now, so it seems like that would have affected things sooner.

    Electrical Fire - Under Dash

Yes, Explorer serp. with a bosch 4g Alternator. Runs at about 14.2 volts at idle.

    Electrical Fire - Under Dash

Had an electrical fire under the dash. Happened while at the exhaust shop, so I wasn't there to witness. Apparently it happened within 10-15 seconds of start up. It appears to have only affected the stock harness and not the Quick 4 Harness that is right next to it. At my own fault, I had just...

    New 4r70w error code

Took your advice and shipped in the controller. He said if they can find the issue and fix it, they will. If not, they will send a new unit. He was pretty confident that it was fine as-is for now. For more details on my conversation with him, PM me... Fingers crossed its just a faulty display...

I have a quick 6 sitting here but like you said, no help. Kevin wanted me to send mine back and then have it repaired. No new unit but seemed 'warranteed' ........but I had to pay shipping...

    New 4r70w error code

How do I put it in "manual mode"? Like 2nd and 1st gear? Yes I believe it did. If I cant solve it, its getting shipped back AFTER the roundup. I was about to ship it tomorrow once I drop it off at exhaust but dont want to risk the process...

    New 4r70w error code

Finally put a test run on the bronco. Around the block was all... open headers until tomorrow. While getting any wheel speed, the display on the Quick 4 goes nuts. the display shifts the data left/right and up/down. It also goes thru different layouts of data display and does not stay...

Bumper lift to eliminate body gap

I will send some photos when the bronco is on the road, in a few weeks. Awesome product! Easy install. A must for any bronco with a body lift and stock bumpers.

    New 4r70w error code

well... I dropped the pan and to my surprise it was an easy fix. 23ish minutes to gather the tools, carefully remove the pan and fix the issue. Since it was "low" on fluid, there wasn't a big mess like I was expecting, and I was able to drop the pan slowly and only get a few drops on my arms...

CA In need of 4r70w dip stick

Took me a long while to find one in decent shape. Got one from Sandmann years ago and it was a little too crusty for my build. Available if somebody wants it.
