    Broken Oil Sender Extension

Well, seems to be "broken off flush" month for me. Just the other day... https://classicbroncos.com/forums/threads/broken-rear-axle-shaft.324641/#post-3555311 Today, I was changing my oil + filter when post duty, I noticed a drip/leak. After some investigation, it was coming from the oil...

    Broken Rear Axle Shaft

Reassembled today. Had a friend over to bounce ideas off of and help. The brakes were the main struggle. Done. Axles in - kinda set the brakes, then off for a test drive. All well, minus the brakes. Came back and focused on the brakes. Another test run - all well. Back on the road...

    Broken Rear Axle Shaft

Round one - Earlier this week, I was able to drill about 3/4" deep at the center of the shaft with a 1/4" bit. As I started to step up on my way to just under 3/8" (size of my slide hammer shaft), I ran into some dull bits. Then I tried welding a couple nut to the shaft. My welder was too...

    Broken Rear Axle Shaft

I just took another look - I think it is a combo of the angle, the backing plate getting a little beat up and loose after I took off the bearing/axle retaining nuts. Thank you for the heads up and I will certainly inspect once I get the axle shaft out. Thoughts on getting the broken one out...

    Broken Rear Axle Shaft

The non-broken shaft came out easily. The bearing is toast. I have not noticed any bearing noise. I confirmed 28 splines. The drum measures about 10 3/8 inches ID and about 2 1/2 inches depth wise on the brake surface. I measured the outside diameter of the bearing. I was not able to...

    Broken Rear Axle Shaft

Thanks DirtDonk! Yes, I believe it is a small wheel bearing and my drums are 10" (measures about 10.5" ID of the drum). I have the 3.50 ratio limited slip rear. I will follow your advise and change both bearings, so likely both axles (looks like this one was cracked for quite some time)...

    Broken Rear Axle Shaft

Well, that was fun. I was coming home last night around 9PM and slowly turning a corner after stopping at a rural crossroad when there was a bang and my Bronco was getting squirrely. We were squatted in the rear as I headed for the side of the road. I glanced in the rearview and saw my rear...

    New Wobble

The other day, I experienced my first wobble - a little scary. I was going about 50mph down a road I have traveled nearly every day for over a decade. Straight road with a cross road that creates a hump and unloads the suspension when going over it. Right at the top of the hump the wobble...

    Children in the Bronco

Well, I did it with our niece, from 5 years old on - just like the 70s/80s. Even times riding out in the country sitting on the tailgate. Don't know what to tell you, it has to be your(s) decision. I wouldn't trade out my 70s/80s life for modern nanny stuff and I refused to allow my niece to...

BC Broncos Soft Top Install-Part 1

Yea - I just used a couple small spacers at the top to slightly lower my wiper motor, just a bit (no rotation). No cover. Works fine. No wiper cover and no dash pad is fine by me.

What have you done to your Bronco today?

Mystery solved?? A couple weeks back my Bronco would not start. It would fire, cough and try to catch, but it was firing rough - to the point I thought the timing chain jumped. Through trying to get it started and then diagnose, the battery got low. I put it on the charger and walked away...

    Won't fire..... Help!

Mine did something like that recently. It has always started with one pedal pump and started right up. It acted like yours - to the point I thought the timing chain jumped. Long story, but turned out to be the battery - seems a cell was bad or something worst internally. The battery was almost 8...

302 low rise intake manifold recommendation for hood clearance

If you don't want Chinesuim, get an old 4V FoMoCo intake (may cost a bit). Preferably from the 60s, so no need to "F" with EGR or other BS.

    Dual Exhaust question

I have dual exhaust/headers on mine - been that way for over 100k. Several years back, I had it all redone at a local shop. Nice, clean with cross-over and exits behind the rear wheels. Nice --separated-- rumble at idle - as intended 😁
