Broncobowsher I pulled the cap a few minutes ago and counted 8 windows on the reluctor with one window being just a bit bigger. I take it this error is related to the distributor? Would this error (#19) cause my timing to not advance properly causing the loss of power and backfiring around...

I pulled the codes off my 96 explorer engine with Ryan's harness and got a 19 and a 96 off the Continuous Memory that I can't explain. 19 indicates a "cylinder identification CID circuit failure" and 96 is a "fuel pump secondary circuit failure. the EEC did not sense battery voltage on the Fuel...

I think I am probably being a little anal because the engine I swapped out had a tick. It got progressively worse and I discovered that a lifter and a cam lobe wore through the hardened outer and ground each other down. Thanks for the help. Patrick

Ugly74 I actually tried the 5 minute motor flush with some conventional oil right after I got it running. It definitely did some cleaning...as it turned the oil black. I then put in synthetic hoping the tick would be cured but there was no change. Maybe Ill give it another chance or add some...

So Just to clarify...because it has a roller cam I can swap out just the lifters without damaging the cam? Do you think I am causing any damage by driving it with the tick? Thanks, Patrick

I have done the 96 explorer engine swap with an engine that supposedly only had 62k on it. When first started (cold) it sounds great but after it warms up I get a tick from the engine. It sounds like a lifter tick but I wasn't sure if a roller cam would make this noise. Any incite is...

Thanks Broncobowsher. If I keep the A/C instead of the PS would the A/C pulley act like a idler pulley as long as I dont wire it in? -Patrick

Bump, and does anyone have a part number for the shorter serpentine (minus a/c)?

Does anyone out there know if you can run the Explorer serpentine with out the power steering pump? I understand that you can eliminate the A/C by running a shorter belt which I plan to do, but I don't have the $$ to spring for power steering right now. If its not possible...can I put the pump...

Its for a tachometer if thats of any consequence.

I was wondering if I could tap switched power off my fuse box (70 wagon) via the two terminals on the bottom left of the box. They appear like they would accept a spade terminal but it would be awfully tight. Thanks, Patrick
