    "Special Bearing Puller?!"

Update- its all back in and running fine. Finding the spring inserts was a pain, but I found some on ebay for a ford 4 spd. They were a little different, but they worked. Upon attempting to reassemble everything back onto the hub I found that the hub just did not want to slide move through the...

    "Special Bearing Puller?!"

So I finally got the rebuild kit and there are no c-springs. Trying to find these things, bur really have no clue what they are called. Gonna check napa, but the napa around here is generally unhelpful.

    "Special Bearing Puller?!"

Makes sense. Found a really helful video on you tube explaining the function of the shift dogs/inserts and the synchro rings ("learn about transmission synchro rings"). Guess this is all a great learning experience. For now im waiting on my rebuild kit from TBP. Thanks for the help in the...

    "Special Bearing Puller?!"

Got the input shaft ready to re-install but I'm having a hell of a time getting it to slide back into place. I get it about a quarter of the way in and I'm stuck. any tricks?

    "Special Bearing Puller?!"

Ok, had a break through. Got the input shaft off with a well placed punch blow. I am seeing wherenthe three tabs go and Im assuming the 14 bearings go inside the input shaft, much like the way you pack the bearinngs in the transfer case. Correct me if im wrong please. I still have a little...

    "Special Bearing Puller?!"

followed the chilton directions and I cant drive the roll pin out of the counter shaft. If I try any harder Im afraid im gonna break the punch off in the hole. Gonna have a beer and woosah. Here's what i fished out of the bottom of the case: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/rcfijhy8vp2lvll/hW7hlOm6Lr

    "Special Bearing Puller?!"

The rear shaft popped out during install and the transmission will not shift now. I opened it up and there are needle bearings loose at the bottom of the case. Not sure exactly where they go but, Im assuming I would figure it out once disassembled.

    "Special Bearing Puller?!"

I need to re-pack the needle bearings in my ford 3.03 and I'm assuming I need to pull the output/input shaft. The chilton manual refers to a "special bearing puller". This thing might as well be a unicorn because I can't find anything like it. Anyone have any solutions?

    3 spd won't shift

Pulled everything out again and I discovered two seaparate issues: 1) the output shaft of the transmission did pop out 2)when clipped into the bell housing the clutch fork lacks the range of motion to depress the fingers on the pressure plate. Is it possible I have the wrong clutch fork or...

    3 spd won't shift

Used the clutch alignment tool and the transmission slid in pretty effortlessly and then I bolted it in. The t-case was a pain, since I did it alone. there was a small gap between the adapter and trans initially, but once I tightened the bolts it closed up. The engine almost starts...

    3 spd won't shift

Dropped the transmission and tranfer case out of my 73 to replace the gaskets and while I had them out I replaced the clutch etc with a new clutch kit (pressure plate, clutch, throwout bearing, pilot bearing) and had the fly wheel turned. Threw it all back together and now the transmission will...

    Running on low oil

I really believe i could have driven 70 miles on 1-2 quarts. Even when the dipstick registered no oil what so ever, the engine still cranked. Seems like one tough SOB

    Running on low oil

Agreed Jdgephar, looks like i have learned my lesson. At least if I do it my self there is no question and no one to blame but myself. At any rate I am in the market for a new engine. Been looking into a jasper. I would be willing to shell out some additional dough if the bang is worth the buck...

    Running on low oil

No signs of leakage. My buddy was driving behind me the whole time and didn't see any smoke. Not sure about the radiator. When we pulled over I smelled the radiator and it smelled like coolant, no signs of exhaust or oil. when the coolant was coming out of the radiator there was no discoloration...

    Running on low oil

I do have an oil pressure gauge. Thought it worked, but apparently not. Any idea what could have consumed approximately 5 quarts of oil in such a short distance? never let off a puff of blue smoke

    Running on low oil

Gents, I am new to the Bronco community. Purchased a 73 about a month ago and my friend and I have put in some hard work on it. I am moving to Hawaii and was driving it to ATL to ship it. I got about 70 miles down the road and the engine began making a chugging noise and began loosing power. My...
